I eagerly await the clash of the titans between Ortiz and Askren. Why, the Thrilla in Manila would certainly look like a club fight in comparison!

lol, they will be evenly matched fights so they might be entertaining. Some of my best fights (like real life) are ones with 2 guys with flaws. I've had some fights where two 10's or 9's are fighting & they're both so good, the fights are more tactical & boring. |

In a hometown fight in the DR, Jeison Rosario came into the fight with a slight paunch, not taking Heber Rondon seriously apparently in his 1st defense.
It appeared to be a tougher fight than expected & Jeison's power bailing out the champ with a left hook KO @ 1:36 of the 10th. Heber had hit the deck 3 times over the fight prior to that 4th & final time. 2 of the KD's happened after the ref either warned Jeison or took a point, Rosario promptly decked Heber taking out his anger on Rondon. Cards read 85-83 & 85-82 twice for Jeison @ the time of the stoppage. |

Who Dares, Wins
Is the motto of the British SAS & that's exactly what Jarrett Hurd tried to do as he moved 6 pounds north going to MW to face the fearsome IBO champ - Dmitry Pirog of Russia making his 3rd title defense.
Early on it looked like Pirog would be too strong but Hurd hung in there & started firing back & in the 11th, a Hurd uppercut dropped Pirog for an 8 count. They went to the cards & Pirog hung onto his belt by SD: 141-144, 145-140 & 144-141. It looked like a hometown decision in Moscow because Hurd won the PL battle: 285 (27%) to 269 (28%) in addition to Pirog's RES - orange. Hurd hopes this effort gets him a title shot @ 154. |

Scotland's new hero!
Kieren Smith went down to South Africa to take the IBF JMW belt from Habib Ahmed in a masterful boxing display.
Early on Habib didn't seem fazed by the 6-2 lefty from Scotland but as the fight wore on, Smith's large frame & boxing ability gave Habib fits as he was unable to land the harder shots he had earlier in the fight. In the 14th a hard uppercut sent Smith to the canvas for a 9 count but the fight went the distance & 1 judge had the fight even @ 143 only to be overruled 144-142 by the 2 others & Kieren Smith is the new IBF champ! PL also for Smith: 368 (28%) to 241 (20%). Afterwards Kieren said he's the new Braveheart for agreeing to take this fight & for bravely rising at the count of 9 in the 14th round. |

JRock returns!
Julian Williams fought for the 1st time in almost a year looking a little rusty at times before finally knocking out a journeyman in the 8th with a combo. He'd sent Roland Rangel to the deck twice before in earlier rounds with a hook & another combo.
Julian improves to 16-1-1 with 9 KO's in his comeback fight after getting knocked out (and losing his IBF belt) in a fight he was dominating last November against Isaac Real in Spain. Last edited by hamed2; 10-12-2021 at 01:31 PM. |

Finally getting a chance to make his 1st title defense, Leo Santa Cruz faced off with Jamel Herring, a very tough & brave Marine!
Leo basically treated Jamel like a sparring partner he didn't like & battered Jamel for 15 rounds, LES - orange and dropping Herring 5 times in cruising to a 15UD (149-132 & 149-131 twice). PL was 493 (32%) to 164 (25%) for Leo. |

Tyson Fury returned to the ring making his 4th title defense against Efe Ajagba & Fury ended matters in the 12th with a right cross @ 1:53 of the round.
Not too much drama during the fight as the cards read: 108-102, 109-100 & 107-102, all for the champ. PL were 344 (39%) to 126 (26%) also in Fury's favor who moves to 17-0 with 12 KO's. |

WBC/IBF SMW unification
In a fight with 2 men who really disliked one another, Caleb Plant won a 15UD over Anthony Dirrell - all 3 cards read 144-140.
Plant, being 8 years younger, was able to just outbox the WBC champ in a mostly boring fight - in the 15th however Plant dropped Dirrell for an 8 count with a quick left hook. AD wanted a dogfight but Plant would not let the fight turn into a brawl. Plant's right eye showed yellow level damage & AD's lip was cut - Plant said he was glad he cut his mouth for all the trash he talked! PL were also in Plant's favor: 368 (34%) to 192 (14%). Plant is now 8-0 with 3 KO's. Dirrell is 21-2 with 18 KO's. |

Canelo moved to 5-0 with 4 KO's @ 175 & made his 3rd title defense as he stopped Lotte Mwale @ 2:26 of the 8th.
The big Zambian proved to be a tough test as he gave as good as he got until Canelo's superior skills started to wear Lotte down. In the 8th, Reynoso told Canelo to go get him & a right cross sent Mwale down for a count of 3. Then a combo sent him to the canvas again - this time for an 8 count. Canelo would not be denied & the ref stepped in. Canelo was up on the cards in a close fight: 68-65 & 67-66 twice. The Mexican also was up in PL: 196 (40%) to 105 (28%). Mwale's left eye showed orange level damage. Last edited by hamed2; 11-14-2021 at 08:22 AM. |

Tony Bellew came to Germany to make his 6th title defense & ran across a game challenger in Artur Mann.
In a back & forth affair, things really heated up in the 9th when a punch from Mann cut Tony's lip. Bellew then dropped Mann for a 2 count. Tony dropped Artur 2 more times (another uppercut & combo) until 1 final uppercut finally finished off the tough German @ 2:50 of the round. Tony was up on 1 card: 79-73 but the Austrian & US judges had the fight knotted @ 76 each. Bellew is now 15-0, all KO's @ CW. |

Father Time is coming after Antonio Margarito but he hasn't caught him quite yet as the WBC champ fended off a furious challenge by former WBC WW champ - Shawn Porter.
Porter took the 1st 2 rounds by out boxing AM but by the 3rd, the champ's size seemed to take control. Then in the 6th, a hard left hook sent AM down for a count of 8. In the 7th, Porter gave Tony one heck of a beating, 25 PL to 1. In the 8th & 9th Tony found his footing once again until the 10th when a hard combo knocked Porter out only 35 seconds into the round. The cards had Shawn up: 87-83 & 86-84 twice & Porter was also up in PL: 215 (39%) to 192 (35%). Shawn in now 6-1 (all KO's) @ 154 & AM's 22-3 with 19 KO's. |

T- Craw strikes!
IBO WW champ Terrance Crawford came to Canada to make his 4th title defense against Mikael Zewski - who lost by MD to IBF champ (Errol Spence) in his last fight in December of last year.
In the 1st round, Zewski tried to pressure the champ landing big shots until an uppercut dropped the Canadian - he survived the round despite quite an onslaught from Crawford. The fight lasted until 1:54 of the 14th when the ref had finally seen enough. Crawford dropped Mikael a total of 8 times over the fight & was way ahead on the cards: 128-113 on all 3! Crawford also landed 413 (34%) punches to 146 (25%) for Mikael. Terrance is now 7-0 (all KO's) @ 147. |

2 JMW's
Gabe Rosado is now 8-1 with 4 KO's @ 154 after KOing George Best in the 6th.
Gabe was 5-1 with 1 KO & then moved to 160 years ago but is now 3-0 & all KO's @ JMW since Freddie Roach became Gabe's trainer. Also Jaime Munguia knocked out Maurice Williams with a rib shot in the 7th to move to 10-0 with 9 KO's. Jaime hopes to finally land a title shot in 2022! |

Making his 1st defense, Tank Davis went Down Under to face hot Aussie prospect - Liam Wilson.
It was basically just a tune up for Tank as he dominated until a combo ended the fight @ 2:48 of the 5th. Tank up in PL: 186 (39%) to 54 (22%) & the cards 39-37 & 40-36 twice. Davis is now 3-0 (all KO's) @ 135. |

Battle of Britain
Kell Brook battled unbeaten Anthony Fowler for the vacant IBF JMW title in a domestic affair.
The IBF stripped Jeison Rosario of the title he won earlier this month by defeating Kieren Smith for the title (15 UD) in a unification fight. Jeison retains his WBA strap. Fowler dropped Brook in the 5th with a hard right cross for a 3 count but Kell was able to avoid further damage. Then in the 7th, Brook returned the favor with combo for another count of 3. Kell dropped Fowler for another 3 count later in the fight with a cross of his own & went on to win a UD: 144-139, 145-138 & 143-140. PL: Brook had the edge - 392 (31%) to 210 (19%). With the win, Kell is now 7-1 (3 KO's) @ 154, he wins his 2nd world title @ a different weight & is also the current WBO WW champ & former IBF WW champ. Fowler suffers his 1st defeat & falls to 7-1 with 7 KO's. Last edited by hamed2; 12-23-2021 at 11:40 AM. |

Hi Hamed2,
I love your universe and have been following it for years! Thank you for posting. I have a couple questions about your universe, if I may. I've seen your mentions here and there on the forum regarding the questions but thought I'd ask: 1. Do you use the aging function or are do all your fighters fight at 'prime' with your own aging system? 2. I've seen you mention that you like matching your universe to fighters who currently have fights or recently fought. Outside of that, how do you determine who fights in your universe, or how do you choose your 'roster'? 3. How you build or pad your beginner's records? Do you just choose lower rated guys in the database or do you use the RFG? Final question, sir, which isn't related to your universe. I've seen you posts thanking IceTea for his DB updates, however, there are some updates that you mention that I do not see on the online DB (change list), nor do they update into my universe. For example, a 175 pound Canelo and 130 pound Santa Cruz. Am I missing something? Thank you for your time, my friend. |
