FWIW, I tried to salvage Winston Brown some time ago. I spent days on it. And, even though I like to think my skills improve with time, to MY satisfaction, that image as we have it is beyond saving. Time to toss the dirt on it, put the flag at half-mast, and tell the bugler to blow taps. I realize this is going to cause others to take a run at it so I'll just piss you all off right away and say now and in advance...nice try...it still sucks. I'm not saying y'all aren't better than me (in fact, I'll stipulate that you are)...just saying I doubt Davinci himself could make a silk purse of that sow's ear. Your best bet would likely be to make it B&W and colorize. Even then...

I appreciate knowing that you tried. I knew it was extreme. But like you, just a little curious as to how some other folks approach it. Pretty sure I'll request strongly that they share how they did it.
I am a Braves collector, so I figure it's worth a shot.

Either thread works for requests, generally speaking. Touch-up requests are probably better placed here. New image requests un-related to the main thread projects are more appropriate for the image request thread.

For those that use Gimp when you run across negatives all you have to do is click on the color menu and then go down to invert click it and the photo will appear. Note you will have to adjust the brightness and contrast to fit your taste. Only trying to help those that have run across these in the past.

Sorry. Not intending to be an ass. So here's an example where there is no "click through". I have no idea who this cat is. Minor league Met. Unknown date. Either Lynchburg or Little Falls (I think the former). Anybody got any idea who he is?

The find of upgraded Vault images I found earlier this year had almost no upgraded Cubs, and you can speculate all day as to why. But I tried to cherry pick some otherwise desirable images from some of the earlier watermarked folders to bright out some needed upgrades. One page will be nothing but Cubs; hopefully, all of them will be images someone wants or needs in restored shape. Thanks in advanced to the skilled technicians who make this look easy.

The last is a rare Topps-produced spring photo of Dodgers legend Pete Reiser during ahis 1960-64 Los Angeles coaching stint. Reiser, who played from Brooklyn from 1940-50, was legendary for horrific injuries suffered running into outfield walls. He passed away at the relatively young age of 62 in 1981.

Hey Ort, I know that the 50's are your wheelhouse, but have you done any Colt .45s? I've got several that are hard to find a decent color image.

Also, here's a crack I took at a John Paciorek. This photo can be found at his personal blog.
