How old is Gene Clines in your game? I'm not surprised he's an All Star if you have him at the right age. He started strong and was real peaky after that.

That's the MiLB All-Stars. He's 24 but only had limited ops to this point. No idea what, both times he's been called up he has killed it.

He was good enough that when young he played against LHP instead of Al Oliver. I play him that way too. They need to bring him up before he fades.

Well your old mate Gates is hitting a swashbuckling 176, Fred Odwell is barely above the Mendoza and neither Red Murray nor Al Shaw are doing much either, so I can't see what the heck he's doing at Bridgeport. It looks like they just called up Luis Torrero as well. Strange indeed.

The AL PotW on the 24th caught my eye ... I would guess this is the weirdly watered down version of Charleston that OOTP had "out of the box?"

Yeah, he entered this league early on (via manual import), before I'd done the work I since have on NeL players. So not the absolute IRL powerhouse he was IRL which kind of suits the FL. Although he's still one of its elite players.

So ... I've been working on NeL projections into the MLB environment for, well, off and on for decades. If you want to add some of the Negro League footnote players--folks like Hurley McNair or Bunny Downs or maybe even Luis Bustamente, LMK and I could help provide what I'm using or planning to use in the WBL for their OOTP ratings.

It would be a challenge in some ways, as the nature of NeL rosters was that the talent dropped off enormously after the population that would be too good for the FL. But there were some folks for sure that would qualify. Even if those three were too good, folks like Nux James or Sam Mongin were certainly at the right level.

It's a work in progress, and only worth it if seeing them in the league would make you really smile.

Just a reminder...

... if you want to see some of your favourite underappreciated players in the FL, just let me know. Retired players only. 5-10 career WAR is the sweet spot, 20 maximum. No super well-known names / HOFers, nor guys who'll import terribly as they won't ever see action.

Other than that, fire away! Love some backstory if possible and maybe they'll appear in future Spotlight Player features!

Let's see if I can go around the diamond on this one ...

C: Rick Cerone. Phil Rizzuto seriously had the hots for him as a broadcaster and never knew what to do with those feelings.
1B: Ron Jackson. Always liked him, largely because of an early baseball card with a killer afro.
2B: Rennie Stennett. One of the great footnote record holders belongs in the Footnote League.
SS: Mark Koenig. Played a key role as a reserve for a championship team in an early year of the WBL.
3B: Enos Cabell. Always seemed on the verge of becoming a better player.
LF: Alex Johnson. Nobody ever could figure out why he wasn't a superstar.
CF: Omar Moreno. Because, once upon a time, that's what we thought a CF should be ...
RF: Dan Ford. That stance! Plus, he has come out of nowhere to force himself into a starting RF role in the current WBL.

Work calls before I can check pitchers for current FL roles, but looking at a list, how about

Al Hrabosky, duh
Dick Tidrow, cuz my Mom thought he was cute
Rick Langford, cuz he had the same last name as my maternal grandfather
Jim Kern, cuz boy did he throw hard with those glasses
Ice Box Chamberlain and Lady Baldwin, on names alone.

With the exception of the Ice Box, whose 30 WAR excludes, the others will be added in the 1909 Draft! Thx bud.
