Lans since I'm in 1901 I have a challenge for you and a chance to use your AI tools... Dummy Deegan, one of the many pitcher for the Giants that season.

I think you are correct, the sketch in the Philly paper the day after one of the games has no mustache.

You won't build the FG based on that second pictures right

Here's a more front-facing option for Deegan from the 2/23/1900 Brooklyn Eagle.

Do you think you could manufacture a Felipe Alou with glasses and Dusty Baker with glasses?

Manager Dusty Baker
You want to know how much I've seen in this game?
When Hank Aaron hit number 715 and broke Babe Ruth’s home run record at the old Atlanta Stadium in 1974, I was there. On deck. Just a few feet away from where Hank clobbered that Al Downing fastball. When a 6.9 magnitude earthquake rocked the Bay during the ’89 World Series between the A’s and the Giants, I was there. Crouched down in a lunchroom doorway at the stadium, eating my banana nut bread. The first high five in history? Believe it or not … I was there. All I really did was hold up my hand. But still. It counts. Steve Bartman? Yep. I was right there in the middle of that one, too. It’s pretty wild to write all that out, and to realize everything I’ve experienced in this life. But do you want to know something that I haven’t told very many people? I haven’t really talked about it much, but from an early age … I’ve always thought that I’ve had a guardian angel looking out for me. Not that I’m someone special or anything like that, or that I was necessarily deserving of it. But I’ve always had that feeling — like someone or something has been protecting me and guiding me in certain directions. It’s almost like I’ve been chosen for this exact life. I’ve had so many life-changing moments over the years. But when I think back, it’s clear that one of the bigger ones happened very early on, all the way back when I was in high school. It’s June 5, 1967, the night before the MLB draft. I’m lying in bed at home in Sacramento. Praying to God. There I am. All this stuff swirling around and around in my head — parents splitting up, college, baseball, basketball, leaving home, about a dozen other things — just lying there saying my prayers. It’s like: Here’s my chance. The draft. Pro ball. I’m praying as hard as I can. The thing is, though, I wasn’t praying that some team would pick me…. I was praying that a certain team wouldn’t. It wasn’t about the Braves. I swear. That franchise, and Braves scout Bill Wight, had shown the most interest in me. And I appreciated that. To be honest with you … you know what it was? I was worried about going to the South. You gotta remember, this was the ’60s, the civil rights era. I knew about the turmoil in the South. It was scary to me, to be honest. So, my prayers that night were all about: Anybody but the Braves. Then, the next morning, I wake up and, of course…. It’s the Braves. A week or so later, I’m heading down to L.A. with my mom to work out with the team at Dodger Stadium, and it turns out that the Braves had put Hank Aaron in charge of looking after me and helping me with the decision on whether to sign or not. So it’s Hank Aaron — the Hank Aaron. And me. Are you kidding? I rode on the bus with Hank. I worked out with the team in one of those generic jerseys without a number on the back. And I felt like I held my own out there, for sure. But I prayed again that night. Because I wasn’t sure what to do. When I finally made the decision, and agreed to sign with the Braves, Hank talked to my mom in L.A. and made her a promise. That he’d protect me. And look after me down South. “Ma’am, I’m going to take care of Dusty as if he were my son.” Eighteen years old, fresh out of school, signed to a pro baseball contract, and I already have a mentor. A guy who just so happens to be the greatest living baseball player on the planet. So … yeah, you’re gonna have a pretty tough time convincing me that I didn’t have an angel on my shoulder back then. - The Player's Tribune ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I could have condensed that or changed the formatting, but I enjoyed it. The spaces let the words breathe. Probably worth a Google. Here's my go of him as a manager. I had to work on the eyeglasses and the reflections. I also took out the smile (even though he's a joyful fellow). Get him a winning team in-game and he'll smile again.

Felipe Alou (manager)
This is a proud man. Proud of his career as a player, proud of his career as a manager, and fiercely proud of his Dominican heritage.
He’s 82, but hardly seems it. He looks just as he did in 2006 when he last managed the San Francisco Giants. He’s still the same weight — about 195 pounds — that he was when he broke into baseball at 23 with San Francisco in 1958, the first player to come directly from the Dominican Republic to the Major Leagues. It’s not surprising that his new book, “Alou: My Baseball Journey,” is just as much a life journey as it is about baseball. “This is almost a baseball book, almost,” Alou told Boomskie on Baseball this spring. Alou had four marriages and a son who died as a teenager in a swimming pool accident. He played with his two brothers – Matty and Jesus – in the same outfield with the Giants and managed his son Moises in both Montreal and San Francisco. He still blames himself for failing to bunt his brother, Matty, over to second base in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1962 World Series. The Yankees beat the Giants, 1-0. Matty was stranded on third and Willie Mays on second when Willie McCovey lined out to Bobby Richardson to end the Series. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Alou was managing the Montreal Expos in 1994 when a players’ strike on Aug. 12 ended the season, causing the cancellation of the playoffs and World Series. The Expos had a 74-40 record and were poised to win it all. “I truly believe only an outside force, or a managerial mistake, could stop that 1994 team from winning the World Series,” he wrote. The work stoppage did it, ultimately costing Alou his job and Montreal the franchise. By the time the strike ended on April 2 prior to the following season, the Expos had sent the core of the team packing: Dennis Martinez, Pedro Martinez, Ken Hill, Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, John Wetteland, Cliff Floyd, Jeff Frassero, Alou's nephew Mel Rojas, and his son Moises, just to name a few. By 2005, the Expos had moved to Washington to become the Nationals. They still haven’t won a National League pennant. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. - forbes.com Pictured in said Montreal garb.

Best manager my team got (yeah I'm an Expos' fan, start watching baseball in 1980 when I was a kid and stop watching the game when they left for Washington) after Buck Rodgers... I know they won nothing with Rodgers but the team was a in the running almost every years he was managing the team.

I have another fun one for you Lans... Warren Shanabrook.
The picture on his BBRef profile isn't that great but we never know maybe you will find something better to work with... in my case I found nothing else for him and I was unable to did a FG for Warren. BTW I did some who didn't previously have a FG... I'll send them your way with some I've updated when the World Series will start (I think you said your next update will be after the WS)

I'm quiet since I play the game but I always do FGs (just less since I already did what I need for a while)... but when an image is found of a player who didn't have one previously I start FG modeller. So to make a long story short I give you another no career guy... George Walker who played 4 games for Baltimore in 1888.

You're right... I didn't find him (unless the FG is an old one under a wrong id). I gave him a shot just ignore the uniform since I'm in 1911.
I made him using a picture with glasses because I think it's what most people would want... sadly I doubt they will show on a Mac.

If anyone has time to touch up Graig Nettles...his current image has a green streak at the top of his head that shows up in game.
I tried using attached photo but his face comes out huge. |
