The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled catcher/designated hitter Willson Contreras from AAA Memphis where he was on an injury rehab.
Contreras, 33, suffered a wrist injury during the second game of the season which kept him out until early June.
He batted .167 in those two games.
In three games with the Redbirds, Contreras has hit 333 with one home run and an RBI.
First baseman Alex Binelas has been sent back to AAA.
The 25-year-old has hit .276 with the Redbirds in 22 games, with five home runs and 14 RBIs.
Although he homered in his latest contest, Binelas has hit just .222 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 25 games/24 starts for the Cardinals.
Contreras is expected to serve as the Cardinals designated hitters.
Because of that, they decided to keep a pair of catcher, Omar Navarez and Ivan Herrera, on the major league roster.

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of left-handed relief pitcher Jalen Beeks to a three-year extension worth $5.2 million.
Acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2024 Rule 5 draft, Beeks, 31, has pitched in 23 games this season for St. Louis going 1-1 with one save and a 0.30 ERA.
The deal is worth $1.6 million per season. The third year features a team buyout.
