Probably. On the League screen is a check box that allows MLB teams to purchase players from the League in question. Would you also allow non-black players into the Negro Leagues?

No, I guess what I would want is an option for the Negro League to go away. The Negro League players would just sign and play in the major and minor leagues like it should have been in the first place.

You could just delete the league? I think you would need to do it every year.
The check box would make it behave like every other league though.

Alright, this is a strange case, especially after all my earlier issues with Los Angeles being the only team in the Pacific Coast with players. I just finished the 1921 season earlier this morning. Worked my way through the offseason to preseason. Look at the minor league rosters. All teams have full roster with varying numbers of reserves(some Texas League squads have as many as 26 on their reserve rosters. All Pacific Coast League teams are staffed as well, but have few reserve roster players. All of them except for the Angels. The Angels have 9 total players. All of them pitchers. Of course, the Angels are a Cubs affiliate. The Cubs also have the Wichita Falls team in the Texas League. Wichita has 29 total players.
Thing is, 4 teams in the bigs have 90+ players on their reserve rosters. 3 have 70+. So the players are there to be spread around they just aren't being spread around. I'm guessing the majority of the massive reserve rosters are puss n boots, so it would be cool if some of them found their way on to minor league rosters. Wish there was a way to limit reserve rosters.......of course, I wish that to occur without the studly sign and release issues that plague reserve roster size limits. |

I entered the reserve roster size issue as a bug a month or four ago.
Once MLB spring training ends / opening day happens the Angels will fill within a few days. If you want the Angels full sooner limit the MLB spring training roster size.

I never ever use spring training. But, I thought they would fill the roster by opening day as well. It didn't happen. I fast sim April and May and then watch from June 1st on. It's June 19th and they only have 8 on the team, all pitchers. Good news is the Angels have a 59-30 record, good for 1st place by 6 games, having players is overrated. Or should that be Jim Unknown is underrated? |

Was anxious to see if LA would fill their roster so I fast simmed 1922. All is well in 1923. All teams are once again full.

Had to scrap my league.
Started it in 1901. Simmed to 1906, erased all history and held an inaugural draft. Then simmed from 1906 to 1918 and turned on maintain historical minors. Simmed to 1921. Played out the 1921 season. Plays some in 1922, but then fast simmed to 1923. Then I discovered Clarence Kraft. Was checking out the Texas League leaderboards and noticed Mr Kraft was the career home run leader with 51. I was stunned, because I had looked for Mr Kraft in 1919 and 1921 and I couldn't find him. Since I fast simmed 1922, I thought, wow Kraft must have hit 51 bombs in 1922. I guessed wrong and the truth ruined the league. You see, Kraft imported with his real life stats. Yup, even though I had OOTP simmed 1914, 1919, 1920 and played 1921 and Mr Kraft did not participate. His OOTP stats page mirrored his real life stat page right down the games he played for the Boston Braves in 1914. So Kraft was the Texas League home run leader, even though he'd yet to play a game. So it looks like you can't start a historical league prior to 1919 if you want to use real minors. |

Those HR's were hit in your game not IRL. Not imported from anything. He never hit 51 HR's IRL.
Sheesh!

I wish I hadn't already erased the league in anger. I'm guessing he didn't get into a game in the OOTP 1922. From 1918-1921 Kraft had exactly 51 Texas League home runs. Last edited by David Watts; 07-03-2016 at 05:20 PM. |

Okay, I was able to reproduce the Kraft thing to a certain extent. Started a league in 1913, erased entire league history. Kraft appears just like he's supposed to in 1914. But, he never ever makes it into a big league game for the Braves. He remains on their reserve roster all the way through the 1921 season Zero OOTP Stats. Zero minor league stats. At the end of the 1921 season he shows up on the Ft Worth Panthers when the minor league import is run. Thing is, he now has OOTP stats. 3 games for the Braves in 1914(exactly true to real life) and stats for the Fort Worth Panthers for 1919 and 1920. The 1919 and 1920 OOTP stats are the exact stats he had in real life. No stats at all for 1921. If you go to the Panthers 1919 batting register and look at the total home runs it says the Panthers hit 55 home runs. Kraft is present on the register as if he played. If you go to the 1919 team totals section it shows that the Panthers hit 44 home runs. So if you add Kraft's 11 real life home runs to the 44 it equals the phony 55.
So he is reimporting. Which is cool, because he does put up some great minor league numbers. But, he is importing with his real stats as OOTP stats....sheesh ![]() |

I am sorry the game does not work to your specifications.
Please consider OOTP 18 your chance to have the game developers create a "David Watts" mode. I am sure they could make you one if they have the time and inclination. In the meantime you may find simply not using the real minor leagues more to your liking. Sorry I cannot be of help.

This is a bug report thread not a design decision thread.
I can fix database related bugs. I can do nothing about design decisions.

Don't know if this has been reported but after my 1955 season around Nov 1 I had two affiliates that disbanded and all the players on those teams appear to have gone into the MLB FA pool instead of staying with my organization. It looks as if the AI controlled teams had the same problem. Before Nov 1 there were 52 players in the FA pool and then jumed to over 1800 when after it imported the new minor league affiliates for the 1956 season. The only way I can continue is to edit all the players in the FA pool back into their organizations which I won't do.
I am using the latest patch and started a new game after I downloaded it. |

They will only stay with your organization if there is room on the other rosters. Two affiliates means you would need 50-60 empty roster spots on the teams you have left.

I suggest the creation of an organizational reserve roster so that this doesn't happen. It would be unlimited during the offseason and would have to be empty by Opening Day. It would just be a place where these players could go so the GMs can deal with the adjustments.
That's related to this idea that the AI gets a crack at these minor leaguers before we ever see them. That really reduces organizational control in a bad way.
