I fast simmed a 1871 league through 1901 and I can't access the history screen for the league or for individual teams. The game crashes when I do. Tried to restart the game, access the history, and it crashed again. I restarted the game, simmed another year and it ran the year without a problem. Tried to access the history page again and it crashed.

Earlier however, I stopped and accessed the history page around 1890 and it worked okay.

I don't really know the specs on this machine. It's a one year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop running XP.

The game is saved now, so if you need to see it pm me.

thnx

Just chiming in with an AMD report.

I have an AMD 3800+ X2 (dual core) and haven't had any crashes.

my crash report

I have numerous crashes of the "OOTP2006.exe is experiencing a problem and must close" variety. Usually during autoplay of a regular season, but sometimes just working through screens. Eventually every league I have created has crashed in this fashion, damaging the league files (players' names get wiped out).

I love the game, but this is getting so frustrating.

I am running an XP Pavilion 04
Win XP Home Edition
X86Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 2 Genuine Intel~1693Mhz
70 GB HD, 31.1 GB free

Help please!!!

I've spent many many hours doing my league and logos and all the minor leagues and finally started the games and almost every game that i manage it crashes when i go to start the game or when i leave the game. Also another problem i have is that my players have their stats from 2005 but in my new season it is just adding them to their total of 2005. is there a way to change the league to 2006 after i already started? I'm more worried about the crashes though cause i've managed about 10 games and there's nothing more frustrating than wasting my time on games that crash. My computer is old so that may be the reason. It's a Dell Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.00 GHz 1.99 GHz, 512 MB of RAM.

Thank you so much if you can help me cause i've put too much time into this project to quit.

Disabled Ticker

Disabling the news ticker in the options in the main menu seems to have stopped my crashes. At least so far.

Not that old!!

I would suggest

a) Starting a new game to see if the crashes are restricted to your save. Whilst we made every effort to retain save game compatibility in some save games it's not possible.

b) If you can, get your save to a position where we can repeat the issues and we'll do our best to fix them issues.

Clearly something happens between 10 and 20 years playing a solo career game with fictional players. I've had this problem (read below) with every single league started. Best I remember that would be 9 leagues now. The furthest I've got is season 18, the soonest fatal crash was season 12 best I remember.

The league setups are always the same. 15 team Major League with, AAA, AA, A, Rookie, Japanese, Mexican, Puerto Rican and Cuban. Different options enabled/disabled sometimes but the same league structure.

1. Tell me how you can make the game crash
Same as bug reported previous (Logged as #1610). The only difference is no longer does the error message screen appear as reported previous and logged as #1610, now it goes straight to the IE message OOTP has suffered a problem and must close screen and then fatal crash.

I've created 2 new leagues since installing the patch. The first one lasted to season 14, now it is in fatal crash mode.

I created the next new league, made it to season 18, now it is in crash mode. Stuck on Dec 31, 2018, will not proceed to the next year, crashed it 25 times so far, same each time. The screen SISA Souting comes up, hangs for about 3 minutes slowly working its way to 100%, gets to 100% and hangs for another 2-3 minutes and then the fatal crash screen appears. It started crashing in Sept 2018, then Oct 2018, then throughout Dec 2018. Slowly as I re-loaded the game each time I moved closer to Dec 31, 2018 saving each step of the way, now Dec 31 is the end for sure, 12 crashes.

2. Tell me about your system, processor type, speed, ram, graphics card etc
Windows XP Pro, AMD 1.9 Ghz, 512MB ram, Asus A7N8X, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro - BTW it takes 10 minutes to sim a season with this setup.

Make sure you can get the crash to repeatable state in a save game (this helps if we need to grab the save game because we cannot crash it!)
I have both games still saved, however, I do not think it possible to send to you. I'm on dial-up, took 3-4 hours to download the game when released, can't imagine how long it would take to send a saved game file.

I think I'll put the game down now, wait for the next patch and see if a fix is in there. It is a great game, Markus is a genius, but for whatever reason I can't get past the fatal crash cycle which makes it unplayable for now.

I'm by no means an expert, but I think there's something fishy about AMD chips and OOTP. When I was getting the draft-day crash on my laptop, a Macbook, I was running the windows version of OOTP via Parallels virtualization software. The chip I was usign was obviously intel, but I went through the crash log OOTP generated, it mentioned something about AMD.

I've since been running things on a plain wintel box, and haven't had any problems. My test league is up to ~1950 without crash.

1. Tell me how you can make the game crash

During long sims, though I can never pinpoint exactly where/why. Sometimes it is after less than one season, sometimes it sims for much longer without any issues.

2. Tell me about your system, processor type, speed, ram, graphics card etc

Straight from the attached error report (more inside):
Model: Macmini1,1, BootROM MM11.004B.B00, 1 processors, Intel Core Solo, 1.5 GHz, 1 GB
Graphics: Intel GMA 950, GMA 950, Built-In, spdisplays_integrated_vram

3. Make sure you can get the crash to repeatable state in a save game (this helps if we need to grab the save game because we cannot crash it!)

I tried, but it does not seem to be consistent. In fact, the attached file includes errors over multiple saved games, only one of which I have not deleted. (The last few are all from the same saved game.)

To me, it is a loooooooooong file full of gibberish, but I know computers like I know cars... I can get it to work, but I do not know how to fix it. Sorry if most of it is unnecessary, but it is all cut and pasted straight from my error reports in the hopes that I do not miss anything that might prove useful.

The game is not unplayable, and often I can sim for a long time without a crash. Even so, I can never predict when/why it will crash. It is set to save once a year, so usually I do not lose too much.

EDITED: It might help if I added the file... it was too big, so I cut out some of the errors.

system crash

I've had three crashes, one that necessitated the reinstallation of the OS. I was running Windows XP on a 4.3 Gig computer with 512 of RAM. The video was intergrated. After the second crash and reinstallation of the OS - Windows XP Professional - I installed a separate video card in order to free up some RAM and it crashed again. I was in the off-season, had just finished simming a fictional league with 2 leagues, 4 divisions, 28 teams.

The first two crashes happened when the OS tried to run the screensaver.

Myopinion? Interesting game that I am now afriad to play because reinstalling the OS shouldn't be the price of playing a game.

Can't get going

The game was working fine, now this started (file attached). I ran Spybot today but I don't believe that had anything to do with it.

Yeah Mate, I seem to be experiencing the same type of problem as you - CONSTANTLY!!!
I've tried reinstalling (which seemed to work for a couple of (game) months....seems to be pretty volatile around saving. Same error though, then 'send windows report', then desktop.

Specs are -

XP SP2
Packard Bell Imed 1618
Radeon x600 Series
Intel P4 3.06Ghz
3GB DDR
200GB HD

Here's hoping!!

Thanks

I've just cleared OOTP from my system and reinstalled the full 1.1 version...now I can't even start a normal game without getting the error this post refers to.
HELP!!!

Cheers

It seems to be save game related in my game - hard to pinpoint a common 'action' but saving a game, exiting OOTP to desktop (this in itself can cause the 'exe error'), and then trying to reload (both via 'load game' and 'resume game' options) seems to cause the crash. When I can actually access the game, I have to select human manager again and most of the time it only shows the team name and not the player name.

I seem to be able to advance the game ok and the save works, but as soon as a 'play by play' game has been completed, and the game saved, then the save file becomes corrupted (if it saves at all). ie, don't seem to be able to combine 'play by play' and 'simulated' games in the one save.

Probably just confused the issue instead of clarified it.

24/06/06 update

Since posting this stuff I have found that I had a corrupt memory stick installed. Since I replaced it, I've had no problems with the game. I've only managed a couple of hours on it since replacing the faulty stick but so far so good.

Cheers

I play about 20-30 years into a universe and it crashes each time, effectively ending the universe each time, because it won't continue further without crashing more. This makes the game unplayable, because I can't get that far into the future to do anything meaningful.

Sorry for my last post. I wasn't at home and could not post all my specs.

1. Intel 4.3 Ghz
2. XP Professional
3. 512K RAM
4. ATI R96P video adapter
5. Foxcomm 663M03-G-6EL MB

There seems to be a conflict with ANY screensaver. If I forget and walk away from it without logging out out of the game, it will be frozen when I get back. That necessitates a restart and I'm afraid I'm going to wind up with another OS crash if this persists.

please? I'm actually beginning to like the game.

What I'd like first is to see if you can get the save game to a crashable state and upload.

By crashable state, I mean I can load up the save here and press some buttons and it will crash on me. With this, I can get the guys to look into it quicker.

FTP details for uploading the save available upon request

Just what the prospective buyers want to see! Serious crashes including the reinstallation of the OS. I think were better off not sticking this one.
