I'm on DSL and almost always FTP-upload right around 80Kbs. Theoretical upload is much higher, of course, usually around 550Kbs according to Speedtest.net but the reality is usually right at 80Kbs.

So it takes me about 6-7 minutes to upload a 33MB file.

Which, perhaps, begs the question: is "Ultra" compression worth it to me, to save a net 4-5 minutes? When my total time for generating and uploading all league files and reports is a choice of 15 versus 20 minutes, my decision is "yes."

Well, all in all I can't say it works out to a speed improvement, at least not on my end. Copying the files takes a little less time than archiving them in-game, but that time is lost archiving them outside the game. The file size is similar using PeaZip, so that part is fine. But I'm afraid this is still going to be a process that takes much, much longer than in OOTP 8. And really I'm more worried about the league file generation times than anything else; that's the item that's critical to get out to the owners ASAP. I wonder if Markus is aware of the slower archiving using OOTP 9?

Is the number of reports, and their total combined size in MB, about the same as it was in v8?

Yup, identical. All the settings are the same as well. I'm really stumped as to what could be causing the slowdown, but enough other people are complaining about it that I have to assume it's a legitimate problem with the game and not just something on my end.

That is really strange. I didn't realize that all the variables (except the game version) were the same.

Yeah, not much of a time savings really with archiving outside of the game, because the file copy took forever.

Sorry that my ideas didn't help, fellows. I hope you can get something reasonable fixed up.
