the yankees, cowboys, and duke mbb are three teams that pretty much any sports fan has an opinion on of either hating or loving, not that many that are just neutral on them. |

That article doesnt add up. Why the hell would the Indians be the most hated team in baseball? They are in the same division as the Twins that I cheer for and I dont even hate them.

I'm pretty sure they need a new algorithm. I can't say I recall anybody saying they hate the Indians, or the Reds/Astros/Nationals. Indifference I might buy.

My guess is "Wow, the Indians/Nationals/Reds really suck" is being counted as a negative opinion, thus the flawed index.
If they had narrowed it down to "Man, I really hate the . . ." the Yankees would be #2 or so.

Yeah, that turned me off on the Red Sox too. Being a Blue Jay/Royal fan, the Blue Jay part at least makes it a requirement to dislike (though, it really isnt personal with me, jut a division rival thing) both teams to begin with. (I dont care much for the Orioles either, but I feel "hating" them this year, just aint right)

(I mean like I said I dont particularly care for them, but that is as much for being a Blue Jay and in the same divison as anything else, it isnt exactly personal)Note: Course my Red Sox dislike might be a little more closer to hate for the fans acting like...well bad after 2004. I might be a little more forgiving when they win about 15 more. The only team I can really say I hate are the Giants, and that is more residual Bonds anger, it gets weaker by the year.

Yeah, that's one of the worst articles ever. The real story is that the results for baseball teams proves that the index doesn't work in all situations.

I think the result for the index is pretty simple. Indians/Nationals/Reds are the meh teams very likely to get a 0 score on a -5~5 scale. That's why they have low scores.
Yankees might be hated by a lot of people, but they are also loved by a lot of people. Yankees probably got a lot of positive scores from people who don't care about baseball at all. It just averaged to be higher than those meh teams.

I just re-read this post and was surprised at some of the names that were still here in 2010, but are no longer seen.

It took you over 10 years to "digest" it and form an opinion?!?
![]() Heh, I like the time travel aspect of seeing various forum members who have disappeared into the mists of time. Interesting that myasu was replying to me but in my former persona on this forum.

The article is from 2010. Almost as old as the last time the Yankees were in a World Series.
