Season two of my Edmonton Rams, we finished the first season at a healthy 84-78 and opened the season with 3 straight after some minor changes. Then we lost 9 straight and now are 13-17 after a few wins. It is a rough game, love the fictional! Who knew!

Losing streak at 4. Last game managed just 4 hits, and only missed being shut out by hitting a 2-out solo shot in the 9th. Sigh.

Next game, starter gives up 4 in the first . . . BUT we score 7 straight and the starter ends up going 7 strong for a textbook pitching finish. Starter to setup to closer. 7-4 victory, whee! 10-14 on the year now...

Safe to say I haven't quite enjoyed my start to the season, is 14 games too early for a panic trade?
20 games in now, and our 11 game losing streak is over!

Broke it with a 3-1 win in Oakland to take our record to a very impressive 3-17 to start the season. Our 1 run game record is at 1-11

I'm in GM only mode, and I can just shake my head at how terrible we are at driving in runs. Pretty realistic considering the Angels have been terrible at it for a while this season too.

Hoping that Richards somehow gets the team going after his final rehab start.

Raccoons start out in first place. Have seen that before. That often-run movie has a splatter finish to it.

Go Raccoons!

The Bullfrogs just can't put it together right now. 3-7 in our last ten, down to within a 1/2 game of last place at 11-17. When we pitch well, we don't hit. When we hit well, we get shelled. It's a challenge when you have no control over the players you have.

I've decided to give one of my relievers, Paul Olivier, a turn in the rotation, just to shake things up. He has three pitches. Up from two last season, so I am assuming the third one sucks so far. But he has been solid this season (2.70 FIP, 67 FIP-, 1.13 WHIP). So, we'll see what he can do.

He is replacing Vernon Woods, a 23-yo starter in his second year of low-A ball. He has four pitches, 101 stamina, and just sucks as a starter. I gave him six starts this season, but in those six starts he has given up 4, 4, 5, 4, 6, 4 runs, averaging 6 innings. He's consistent at least. :P His 4.44 FIP is much better than his 6.31 ERA, but I have my best fielders on the field, I can't help him out much more than I am already. He has a .384 BABIP.

During my fourth season, and winning at a steady rate of only .400, my owner finally got to me with his email evaluation and review of goals.

I got so mad at him that I went as far as writing an article in the 'League Newspaper' (you can do that), and I called him every name in the book before wishing he went through a Massey Ferguson 9580 combine.

It looks really neat to have your own article in the paper. After I read it I quit the team. I felt better.

That's a great post. Is there any other game that gets under your skin like that?

No.

I put up a review on Steam just yesterday that basically states that I'm living in my dynasty's world and probably need treatment.

And it's Friday morning, I'm going back to work after two days being violently sick, and I'm in the bathroom and thinking about how my southpaw ace Nick Brown has 998 career strikeouts and matches up with the Loggers for his next start and their professional coonskinner Bakile Hiwalani, who's gonna bat third or fourth, and how awesome it would be if he could make Hiwalani #1,000. Like I have nothing else to think about when I'm about to leave home... like:

- shower
- eat something
- wear pants

Raccooooons!!

So, ironically, here's what happened with this. We faced off against the Chula Vista Dragons in a three-game set. Won the first two games, our longest winning streak of the season, to bring our record to 13-18.

So Olivier got the next turn in the rotation. Pitched three scoreless innings, and then . . . rain delay. Now, I don't know if OOTP is modeled to put pitchers at higher risk of injury if they pitch after a long rain delay, but I didn't want to risk it. So, in comes the long relief guy . . . Vernon Woods, the exact guy I took OUT of the rotation to give Olivier a shot!

Woods then proceeds to throw five innings of one-hit ball. We scrape out a run in the 7th, and win 1-0! They had two hits, we had one. Our first series sweep of the season, and our first three-game winning streak of the season!

Weird.

Let's just say it didn't quite work out as I imagined it and I have now rejoined the below .500 club. And we came so close to making it through April without losing our dignity.

Am I writing these for my own pleasure?

Skip to middle game in the latter series here: Let's just say it's worth it

So, finally scraped our way back to within 3 games of .500 (14-17). And of course, here comes a 3-game set with the Fresno Flames. 21-10 on the season. SIGH.

Until you read in the newspaper a week later, "Baseball Owner Sues Ex-Manager Wsenkow for Libel."

I imagine you sleep-walking to your computer, writing that article from guilt, then being surprised by it the next morning.
