Also in the same 2014 test file, a 24 year old Matt Harvey is a free agent at startup.

Fixed in builds >= 30. Pretty much all the player issues have been fixed in those builds. If you find any after that please report them here with the build number.

Is the New York-Penn League importing correctly? Tested with '80, '84 and '95 imports, the league comes in as Single-A, with a short schedule starting in April.
I believe it should be Short Season A, on par with the Northwest League. The Midwest League imports as a Short-season league with a full 138 game schedule starting in mid-May. I believe it should be on par with the South Atlantic League, which imports as A. I could be wrong, just wanted to point it out. |

Not sure where this should go, so I'll put it here...Playing random debut (now on build 17.2.31 BETA) historical with no minor leaguers, neutralized stats...Matt Harvey (NYM) in his neutralized stats has only 63.0 IP in 29 GS in 2015. Every other season looks OK, except 2014 (since it's probably based off of 2015 in part due to it being a missed season IRL). He is said to have given up 156 H, 57 ER, 18 HR, 37 BB, 188 K in those 63.0 IP. All his peripheral stats are way off as a result: 3.06 WHIP, 2.6 HR/9, 5.3 BB/9, and a phenomenal 26.9 K/9. I'm thinkin' he needs a 1 in front of that 63 to make it 163.0 IP. Once you do that, everything else will fall into place. If this is the wrong place to report this, please direct me to the right one and I'll do it.
![]() I'm seeing the same thing for Chase Anderson (ARI). He seems to be missing about 100 IP from his neutralized stats for 2015. Jesse Hahn (OAK) as well...Don't know if he's missing 100 IP or not, but he's definitely missing some innings, as he has just 32.0 IP in 16 GS in 2015. Ian Kennedy (SDP) as well. He was horribad in 2015, but not so horribad that he only threw 56.0 IP in 30 GS. Same for Jimmy Nelson (MIL) in 2015. I'm seeing a pattern here...Pitchers in 2015 could use another look if possible. Wily Peralta (MIL) 2015. R J Alvarez (OAK) 2015, so it's happening to relievers as well. Jumbo Diaz (CIN) 2015. Jake Diekman (PHI/TEX) 2015. Casey Fien (MIN) 2015. Anthony Ranaudo (TEX) 2015. C J Riefenhauser (TBR) 2015. Sergio Romo (SFG) 2015. Joe Blanton (KCR/PIT) 2015. Clay Buchholz (BOS) 2015. Jon Lester (CHC) 2015. Xavier Cedeno (WSN/TBR) 2015. Joba Chamberlain (DET/KCR) 2015. Wade Davis (KCR) 2015. Jeurys Familia (NYM) 2015. Kyuji Fujikawa (TEX) 2015. George Kontos (SFG) 2015. Roman Mendez (TEX/BOS) 2015. Kevin Quackenbush (SDP) 2015. Fernando Rodriguez (OAK) 2015. Dale Thayer (SDP) 2015. Michael Tonkin (MIN) 2015. Hitters look OK so far to my untrained (read: non Spritzeified) eyes. So in summary it's pitchers (both starters and relievers - every one I ran across in random debut was affected to some degree or another, less so if they were terribad pitchers in 2015, but all were affected) in 2015, neutralized stats, no minor leaguers (because I'm playing random debut, and as far as I know the minor league database is not compatible with RD historical). Please don't take this as some kind of hostile critique. I'm only reporting what I've seen with my admittedly untrained eyes. Thanks folks. ![]() Last edited by actionjackson; 03-20-2016 at 07:38 PM. |

I swapped Innouts (Lahman) and IP (BBref). We now use BBref but I need to convert their IP's to InnOuts so Markus does not need to change his formulas. Only 2015 is affected. I'll generate a new file in the morning.

In a 2010 Twins historical season, I had two versions of JJ Hardy populate. I forgot to take a screenshot, though.

Fixed a while ago. Not retroactive though. You would need to create a new game with the latest build or delete one of them.

In my 1995-1996 game, I noticed unaffiliated minor league teams were signing MLB-quality players to major league contracts.
For example, the Single A Bakersfield Blaze of the California League signed catcher Darrin Fletcher to an $8.8 million contract during the 1996 off-season after he hit .275/18/85 in 1995 in my sim for the Expos. I tried setting it so MLB players can't sign in other leagues, but that didn't work.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but in my classic games, some BIG name free agents (Iv'e noticed it most with Mark McGwire and a few other huge names) signing big, long term deals with independent teams, then immediately having their contracts purchased by an MLB team.
The issue here is, these MLB deals are only for 1 year, so they become free agents every single season. These guys should be signing long term deals with MLB teams, but they're on the market every year. Is this intentional? Is there any way to combat this? Or can it be tweaked? Only happens when I use full historical minors. Just wanted to know if I was the only one noticing. |

In 1987, John Smoltz is in the Braves organization to start season.
Also, players are on the 40 man roster who really shouldn't. It seems to take guys with the best MLB careers out of minor league players and put them on the 40. For example 17 year old Todd Hundley is on the 40 man roster for the 1987 Mets. This is going to make teams burn through options and create a DFA armageddon in 3 seasons when the options are used up and guys aren't MLB-ready. Can you adjust which players start on 40 man rosters? Or maybe only put guys on who had MLB service in the year the universe starts? |

I figured I'd post here about the difference in potential ratings for players that are entering the draft when they did as minor league players as opposed to when they enter the draft when they did as major league players. I noticed some huge differences in the first beta, and am still noticing some differences in the 2nd beta. I'm not running exhaustive searches, but every time I see a player who looks "off" to me as a minor league entry draftee there are noticeable differences in his potential as a major league entry draftee. Of course there should be differences in their current ratings, but there shouldn't be differences in their potential, should there?
This is what I've tracked so far. All ratings are according to the editor. I will update with more players as I notice them, or will stop posting if this is working as intended (though I really hope that isn't the case). These are the only 4 players I've checked. I'm just playing a game and if someone pops up that I expect to be better than they are, I check them. gooden001dwi 1981 Dwight Gooden 17 year old 91-93 Fastball 120 Curveball 141 Slider 56 Changeup 92 Movement 158 Control 94 Stamina 201 Holding Runners 170 goodedw01 1984 Dwight Gooden 19 year old 93-95 Fastball 125 Curveball 147 Slider 59 Changeup 95 Movement 198 Control 108 Stamina 208 Holding Runners 166 Rob Dibble has even larger problems As a minor league draftee (dibble001rob) his potential ratings according to the editor: Rob Dibble 95-97 Fastball 171 Slider 146 Movement 150 Control 62 Stamina 13 Holding Runners 114 As a major league draftee (dibblro01) his potential ratings are: 98-100 Fastball 203 Slider 172 Movement 222 Control 82 Stamina 13 Holding Runners 79 Roger Clemens 1982 minor league draftee version clemen001wil 95-97 Fastball 153 Curveball 130 Slider 99 Changeup 23 Splitter 31 Forkball 61 Movement 199 Control 112 Stamina 193 Holding Runners 113 Roger Clemens 1984 major league draftee version clemero02 96-98 Fastball 152 Curveball 129 Slider 99 Changeup 23 Splitter 30 Forkball 61 Movement 229 Control 123 Stamina 181 Holding Runners 124 Rick Aguilera 20 year old minor league draftee aguile001ric 90-92 Fastball 103 Curveball 62 Slider 102 Movement 114 Control 109 Stamina 23 Holding Runners 149 Rick Aguilera 23 year old major league draftee aguilri01 91-93 Fastball 136 Curveball 89 Slider 116 Movement 146 Control 140 Stamina 11 Holding Runners 143 |

Ron Washington (longtime twins SS) in my 1988 import is rated as a pretty good catcher for the Indians...looked up his real-life fielding stats and don't see any innings at the catcher position.
update: found John W Russell (Phillies catcher) listed as a CF w/range of 140, which seems to be the default for anyone w/time at that position. Looked at his real-life fielding stats in minors and saw he played 15 games in CF at AAA...this also explains why Washington was rated as a catcher as he made a handful of minor league appearances at that position in 1989.
