Personally; I agree with the OP, and this to me feels more like a logical oversight and not an intended behavior.

Pretty amazing. You posted a thread on a public forum, and someone posted a comment to express their opinion about it.

Now, I can tell that you are very concerned about this because this is the second time you've deigned to enter my time-suck of a thread so I'm going to let you off the hook, ok? You OFFICIALLY have my permission to never click on this thread again. Really. I promise not to come after you to ask, "Hey, Orcin! Haven't seen you in my thread lately. What's up?" or "Hey Orcin! I'm not sure if my thread is interesting or not. Wanna weigh in?" Nope. Won't happen. I promise. So now that you are freed of that burden allow me to invite you to, as a terrible musician once said, go and love yourself. You can see your own way out. Don't let the door hit you. |

It has long been established via psychological studies that humans can and will make decisions that are not in their best interest. This specifically includes monetary decisions.
Decades ago economists proudly announced that man was a rational creature who always acted in his own best interest - and then psychologists came along and ran experiments and proved the economists to be wrong. See Poundstone’s Priceless or any history of psychophysics. |

I'd still love to see someone post examples of player who went to arbitration for some reason other than they wanted to make more money than the club was offering.

think Syd hit it on the nail as to the cause.. .and staying away from "why?" or whether it hsould happen..
for whatever reason, if not the manager, the player under normal circumstances outside of arbitration doesn't want to sign with you.. it'smerely checking that qualification at the 'wrong' time in the code or lacks a qualification denoting club control years etc... semantical error somewhere. ---------- out of how many players that have rolled through arbitration, it can be expected at least a few irrational people have been involved in the process. it's illogical to try to prove non-existence, so anything along those lines is fallacious reasoning. if it hasn't happened, it will likely happen at some point, if given enough time. even still, this is likely just a symantical error (very lightly used 'error') in the code, which has virtually zero effect ont the game in any way besides some ocd to avoid arbitration. probably saves you money more often than not if you put in a 'good' arbitration offer.
