Well I'll be...

Will say this though...when I replace them with transparent files, the rating number stays left justified. When I disable bars, it goes all the way to the right.

Since we're talking mods, anyone know of a good sounds mod? The default game sounds seem to be a bit unpredictable in their volume levels, not to mention that I make it a point to immediately delete the 7th inning stretch files.

My custom award is "Most Popular Player" which explains the heart icon. I am currently using only the first 10 icons which are the ones properly named to coincide with skin image files:
I really like those images, especially those for the moods. I find the ones you are using much more intuitive.

Sarcasm doesn’t communicate well through message boards. I hate Com2Us as much as the next person, as long as the next person hates Com2Us. At least we got OOTP 21.

As you see, there are nine other award images in the file. Some of those, I have used in the past and in OOTPB 21. By trial and error this year, I arrived at the 10 images that I now use (the appropriately named files) which, to me, are the ones that harmonize the best. If you like any of the others, though, all you need to do is to rename them appropriately.

How do you award someone that custom award you made?

1. Go to Add-on Central and download the skins files.
2. Show OOTP 21 in the Finder.
3. Control-Click and select "Show Package Contents"
4. Open Contents
5. Open Data
6. Open Skins
7. Open ootp classic
8. Control click skin.bin and select move to trash. Don't empty it yet...just in case.
9. Open images.
10. The offending images are in this folder. Remove them, alter them as you see fit.

Restart OOTP...should be fine. If so, you can safely empty your trash.

You are referring to my Most Popular Player Award. Here are the notes that I keep on that:

Most Popular Player Award and JAWS

For Most Popular Player, customize Popularity Info view by adding Personality ratings, Professional Years, and JAWS. Select All Players and filter by league. Extremely Popular player with highest JAWS wins. (Sort by JAWS and select first three Extremely Popular players on the list for win, place, and show.)

Including personality traits and professional years in the view is useful if there is a tie or if the results are close enough that the award could go to a more deserving player when these parameters are taken into account.

JAWS: In order to calculate a player’s JAWS rating, statisticians calculate a player’s lifetime WAR value. After that, they rank his seasons played in the majors by WAR value, and isolate his seven best seasons. Then, they add his WAR figures from those seven seasons and average the result with his lifetime WAR total. The resulting number is a player’s JAWS.

The award can change hands depending on how well the contestants played in the season just ended, if they are tracking similar JAWS numbers. Or, a player can enjoy a personal dynasty for a number of years which can be pleasing to see.

Below is a screenshot of the custom Most Popular Player view with a filter applied for national Extremely Popular players and sorted by JAWS. The personality columns are there in case tiebreakers are needed. This is not the Manual Awards screen - it's too early yet for that - but the view will be the same there. It looks like Schmit (AL) and Baudendistel (NL) are going to win the award again.

That's a pretty cool idea! I may borrow that for my league. What I really meant was, how do you actually award that to someone? In the League Settings > Options > Award Names I could add a title of my own custom award, as you've done, but how do I award it to someone so they get one of those badges next to their names, like an All-Star badge or World Series Champion badge?

Well, you know to name the award here:

Name: settings.jpg
Views: 499
Size: 333.0 KB

and when you do, when it comes to Awards time, it is one of the awards that you can vote on (with the AI if you allow it to vote):

Name: voting.jpg
Views: 499
Size: 477.1 KB

but what I always do is manually pick my own award winners after asking the AI by clicking "Ask Computer." Then I edit the choices; you can see that the AI is mute on "Most Popular Player" so I must drag the #1, #2, and #3 players over to the appropriate slots:

Name: manual.jpg
Views: 483
Size: 306.9 KB

#1 in each league wins the award, and the nifty red heart, but I noticed that #2 and #3 receive mention of their place and show results in their player histories. That's why I pick all three finalists.

Not bad, but ideally I would like it to more closely approximate the hue of the Profile . . . Editor icon bar.

The question I have, though, is how do you differentiate between current and potential ratings, or don't you care about that? I would be missing a two-tone system like this which comes in handy for evaluating prospects:

I can try to find that texture...

And you are right, I do not display Current Ratings. So good point...single color/texture would not work for those that display both Current/Potential.

Is there a way to get Championship Trophies back onto the team home page like we had a couple versions ago?

Hey Deja Bru,
First of all, I love the name! Second of all, I'm having trouble doing this mod. All I see when I follow your steps is this screen...

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
