Not cool, not cool at all. With a comment like that, I don't think he'll be willing to help you, if you don't sincerely apologize for it and mean it. Many of us are not graphics experts like txranger and others around here are. And when we do something, we often have to work at it, and it's not always easy for us, when we try to do something, to be sure.
Take my own work, for example. While I'm not likely, in my opinion, to ever be at least half as good as even low, for example, graphics-wise, I still do try to do the best work I possibly can if and whenever I make graphics around here or elsewhere. I know I've improved, but I'll still need to improve a lot more than I already have to even come close to the quality of work many others here have produced, graphically-speaking. Isedelyod, rocknfire7, and so many others I can't even name, to name just some of the people who do quite good work here or have. You shouldn't make such comments around here, in any case. Or at least not like you just did, for sure. He obviously tries to do the best work he possibly can, for being quite new at it around here. He will certainly improve, given time and inspiration from God above, I'm quite sure. Lord willing, of course, that is. And with that, I'll close this post here. But I must first remind you that all of us need work on various areas of our lives, and we're not always experts at doing certain things that we each try to do in them. That's if they're actually good things we're trying to do in them, of course. At least not at first, anyway, that is. CD out.

Just stating the truth, he said in his first post he is still learning how to do this. He should learn how to make uniforms and hats too.

As can you. There are plenty of wonderful tools stickied in this very forum that you can use.
Logos: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...hlight=pickoff Caps: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=246811 Jerseys: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=247172 Create away. And, if you have the courage, feel free to share your creations for others to see.

One thing at a time, and you are not being fair. He will certainly get to them later, if at all possible, once he feels he's good enough at doing logos here, I'm sure. You can't expect him to be able to do everything at once, for sure. Especially when he doesn't yet apparently have enough experience to feel sufficiently comfortable with doing a lot more things like he's already posted in certain threads here.
For myself, I have not yet managed to learn how to do logos well myself, especially original ones. I can do uniforms and caps to a degree, but the ability to do logos well as described above, that still seems to generally escape me, seeing as I'm really not very good at drawing and other artistic abilities, in my humble view. I am a much better writer/literary artist than a visual one, it seems to me. But that's fine with me, for at least the time being, if not for the rest of my life. If I someday get much better than I am with my artistic abilities than I have so far been able to get, then so be it. If not, so be it as well, as the Lord wills and all. But as far as I can tell, and as far as I am concerned, you are being unfair and being mean with your comments. I can tell you from LONG personal experience that it can often be a real challenge to come up with ideas and concepts and images, et cetera, that you feel are good enough to potentially show to others online or elsewhere. Especially for those who aren't really good yet at visual arts, for example, whether or not they'll ever be. People like me, for instance, to name just one such person. CD out.

Furthermore, he hasn't even been on for several days, and you're apparently criticizing him unjustly here, especially when that fact is considered here. I suggest very strongly that you reconsider your airs of apparently intentional disrespect and apparently deliberate impatience very carefully and very quickly. Or you may just find yourself with many unfilled requests from many, if not most or all, of the graphics artists around here, if you'd choose to make requests of them on these forums.
Don't be like I most likely was a while back, when a lot of people likely were quite upset with me for sufficiently valid reasons. You may still be new here, but a lot of people don't take well to constant requests from people who don't apparently care who they might upset and all here with their words and all here, as far as they can tell well enough here. Learn the general moods of those present on these forums, and try to watch your words more carefully here, and I think others will be more likely to give you the benefit of doubt around here, once they get to know you better around here. And with that, I'll close this post here. In the meantime, though, I strongly suggest you seriously consider the advice now given to you here by me and others around here. I was given the same basic advice by several people on these forums, and since I was, I've tried to follow it as best as I possibly can here, for sure. CD out.

What you may have done here is to cause a number of your peers to be not the slightest bit interested in assisting you with anything. I suppose that will be your 'warning' if you can't alter your course.

I like where this is going. Especially the Platypus one, and there are some really cool ideas here, like San Jose Atomics.
Since you're also quite new at it, is it easiest to just start with Photoshop and try stuff until you figure it out? |

hurricanekevin, don't let one person's opinion sour you on your new hobby.
You are going to be very good at this... you have basic talent and you are creative in designs... that's a very good start. I'm not crazy about each and every logo you do... but I'm also not crazy about every thing knuckler, txranger, cephasjames, low, golem64, Isedelyod.and the other excellent graphics designers create here on the OOTP Mods Forum. I like the Suffolk Standard, Newport News Mariners, Huntington Beach Surf, Fresno Bees and Evanston Vision... some very nice ideas and designs. Your early works are promising... I hope to see you posting more here and sharing your talent. I like the simplicity of your work. "keep it simple" works well in doing logos, jerseys and caps. In my experience, simple designs show up better on the game screens... many excellent graphic designers create wonderful logos, jerseys and caps that look great at 300 pixels, but they are just blurs at 50 or 150 pixels. Personally, I hope you always keep it simple. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-10-2021 at 10:35 AM. |

Hmmm... did I miss something? Anyways, thanks for the positive words ya'll. I've been busy working up some new logos. I'll post some below.

So I'm using GIMP mostly since I had some prior experience with Photoshop. GIMP is a free program that models Photoshop and is very useful once you get the hang of it. I started off just doing little things, changing colors or the city on an existing logo that I liked. If I was to start now I'd start with Inkscape and learn that. Another free program but this one models Adobe Illustrator. It is actually better for logo creation since it works in vectors which are scalable. Right now I'm trying to create at least one logo in Inkscape everyday, but that said I'm 100 times more comfortable in GIMP for better or worse. There are some videos out there that give you a quick course in vector vs. raster graphics. That being said, GIMP/Photoshop are fine and have their strengths too. I've done some LinkedIn Learning courses on both Inkscape and GIMP which helped unlock a lot of the tools I didn't know how to even experiment with. Just finding videos on YouTube is helpful too. Problem solving something you are trying to do (like, I want this text to do this...) is a great way to pick up some skills. Templates have been really beneficial for me. I've created about 20 so far of various shapes and styles that are now my starting points when I create. I can get stuck in a rut sometimes and do too many of a certain shape, so I try really hard to break out of that when I notice I'm doing it. I'm all about setting up my templates to save me having to do the same initial steps every time I create. I'm glad to share my files or talk more about this if you (or anyone else) is interested. My final thing is to just do it a lot. Last year I built a 200 team OOTP league using Justafan's logo creator. That helped me to get comfortable with creating for the game and pushing me to try things out. This is the first year I'm designing my own stuff from scratch with the help of some clipart. I'm building a 435 team league that I'll use in OOTP, Football Manager, and at least some in a FHM save I'm evolving right now. Make good stuff, make awful stuff, remake the awful stuff, try different styles, download other people's stuff and try to recreate versions of it, and have fun with it. Anyways, not sure if you wanted all of that but I have been wanting to share a bit of my journey in case it was helpful to other people who are learning or wanting to learn. |

So I've created a lot lately and uploaded everything to my Google Drive. Not everything is great but I'm trying stuff and learning quite a bit. Some of it works, some of it... well doesn't lol.
Here are some highlights: Atlanta Metros Denver Alpine Deland (FL) Freshwater |
