From now on, I think it would be good if I only did news and game reports, because taking a screenshot, saving it, and then attaching it to a post is hard enough.

Rafael Sanchez of the Irish set ABC single-game records for hits (5) and triples (2).

Yes, I skipped April 24th because there were no news on that day. Was there a great game played? Maybe, but I don't care.

Okay, super late, but we enter May with high hopes- hopefully.

SHUTOUTS GALORE IN NBL
Most times, the fans love shutouts because the defense was brilliant and pitching was stunning. Today, it happened thrice, in Cleveland, Columbus, and Los Angeles. All three teams that were shut out were on the road. The visiting Blackhawks were downed by the Brown Bears 1-0, the Tropics shut out the Black Dogs of Colorado Springs 8-0, and The Swashbucklers beat the Milwaukee Buffaloes 10-0.

STANDINGS AFTER 5/2
Miami has fallen back by a ton, 5-22 on the year.

BRAWL GETS USHER AND NUNEZ SUSPENDED, CLAIMED AS "A TITLE BOUT"
Barry Usher of the Black Dogs and Victor Nunez of the Tropics will be suspended from baseball for 5 and 6 games respectively, after the two started a brawl at Cooper Stadium.
It happened in the 5th inning, when Usher stepped to the plate. An 0-1 pitch by Nunez got away, hitting Usher in the back. He went down, but instantly got up and charged the mound. What happened next wasn't pretty.
Usher landed a hook on Nunez, who responded with a hook of his own. It took 2 and a half minutes to control the situation.
In a post game interview, Tropics GM Alberto Lazos had this to say to the media: "I may not be a boxer, but they were fighting like it was a title bout. They landed some hard punches, and Usher even tried to get me, but I left unscathed." Black Dogs GM Eric Hill had no comment.

BREAKING NEWS: RUSSELL MAKES HISTORY AT HOME, SHUTS DOWN IRISH
Lone Star Stadium was filled with 16,819 people, with many more on TV, who didn't know that they would witness history tonight. And no, it's not a 4-homer game, it's a no-hitter.
It has only been 1 month and 1 day since the season started. The no-hitter was thrown by Mike Russell of the Houston Blackhawks against the New York Irish, the final being 1-0.

Russell saw the scoreboard in the 9th. He knew already that he needed one more out. It was Santiago Martinez that he needed to get out. He threw a 1-1 pitch that didn't look good. Instead of a hit, it was a popup to second baseman Ross Hilliard. He waved everyone off and made the catch. Immediately, Russell flew into the arms of catcher Nick Yarbrough. Soon enough, the fans started swarming the field, celebrating. The celebration lasted over 4 minutes, at which point security asked everyone except the players to leave the field.

In a post-game interview, Russell stated that, "I still can't believe I just did that! I'm so happy," before getting a pie in the face. After that, he looked like a mime.

Houston had one error in the game, by Sam Salamone in the 2nd. They are now 15-15 on the year, 2nd in the ABC Central behind Cleveland. New York is now 18-12, still tied with Philadelphia for 1st in the ABC East.

May 6th Quick Recap: Walkoffs (almost) all across the board

the baseball times
Wednesday, May 7th, 1958

SHUTOUTS ARE TOP PERFORMERS IN NBL TODAY
Yet again, shutouts are among the top performances of the day in the NBL. We start with Kyle Parent of the Green Knights, who blanked the Fusion 5-0, striking out 15 and walking 2.

What about Juan Solorio of the Brown Bears, who threw a 1-hitter, sending 10 back to the dugout in a 5-0 victory over the Blue Chips?

Or maybe Bobby Delgado of the Lightning, K'ing 12 and walking 1 in a 7-0 win over FT Worth?

Finally, we have Bobby LeBoutillier, throwing his 2nd straight shutout, striking out 7 El Paso Indians and walking 2 in a 2-0 final.

LEYBA TO HIT 20 MARK
For most people in the NBL, it's hard to hit in 20, even 15 games in a row. For Alex Leyba of Denver's Sun Dogs, it's easy. He hit the 20-game mark today, going 1-for-5 against Tuscon. He had one last chance in extra innings, where he hit a 2-run homer in the 10th. At this point, he is hitting .376 with 11 home runs and 23 RBIs.

TOP STORYLINE: SKINNER TO POSSIBLY SIT OUT FOR SEASON
For SS Johnny Skinner of the Archers, his injury hit him a little too hard, as his torn back muscle will cause him to maybe miss the entire season, or 4-5 months. He waited a full 4 days for the final result. He left in the 7th inning against the Monsters on the 4th, on a second base collision.
A groundball to pitcher Daniel Tate was thrown to Skinner at second. Aaron Wallace slid to break up the double play, in which he collided with Skinner. The spikes of Wallace may have pricked Johnny, which removed him from the game.
"I wasn't expecting this. If I miss the rest of the season, I don't know."

OTHER NEWS
Zach Heath of the Buffaloes throws a 10-0 shutout in Omaha. He gave up 3 hits and struck out 6.
Honolulu 3B Rick Johnson has a 5-hit game against Austin in a 16-1 win.
Enrico Pacho of the Indians throws a 5-0 shutout in Long Beach. He gave up 2 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6.

TOP STORY: SLAUGHTER GETS HORRIFIC INJURY, LEAVES WITH APPLAUSE IN DETROIT

DETROIT, May 8- The Generals met up with the Crush at Tiger Stadium in Detroit today, with Bob Slaughter leading off in the lineup for Jacksonville. This was any other day for the most part. He started off the game by flying out to center.
His next AB in the 3rd had him hit a 3-1 shot in the gap in left-center. He was off to the races, his speed being 60. As he got ready to turn, thinking for three, something happened.
He stumbled on second base and his knee went along for the ride. He fell and couldn't get up, mind, he couldn't sit up. His left knee looked like the color of the red on the Chicago Cardinals logo. It was swollen and more tilted to the left. He couldn't walk on one foot after that.
Medics immediately arrived on the scene and helped him on a stretcher, where he was carted to a nearby hospital to the thunderous applause of 28,000 people in the rain and cold and wind. I watched nearby press writers typing away on their typewriters, and one said "SLAUGHTER'S INJURY IS DISGUSTING". X-rays were done on Slaughter, but the results have not came yet.

OTHER STORIES
Devon Hamby of the Veterans throws a 3-0 shutout against the Islanders. He gave up 5 hits, struck out 12 and walked 2.
Mike Jacobs of the Blackhawks throws a 2-0 shutout against the Wolverines. He gave up 2 hits, struck out 6 and walked 0.
Scott Morang of the Beavers throws a 4-0 shutout against the Lightning. He gave up 5 hits, struck out 4 and walked 1.

TOP STORY: IZZY STRIKES AGAIN, SHUTS OUT CRUSH
The day after Bob Slaughter's horrific injury, the weather was better, as there were clear skies all day. More people were there than yesterday. Izzy Ramirez started for the Generals, and he was productive. He threw an 8-hit shutout today as the Generals won 3-0. He struck out 10 and walked one batter. Jacksonville manager Matt Igoe had this to say after the game: "He gives us the defense we need. He strikes batters out, he proves himself out there. This is what we need."

CO-TOP STORYLINE: VOTING PROCESS BEGINS FOR ALL-STARS
It's the best time of the year: summer. Summer means baseball, and an All-Star Game. Starting today is the All-Star voting. The top voted players will get spots in the Midsummer Classic, being held at Texas League Park, home of the Gamblers of Oklahoma City.
Voters can head to any ballot box in the country or send their votes to the Baseball Times newspaper. The All-Star Game takes place on June 17th.

CO-TOP STORYLINE: GONE IS SLAUGHTER- FOR SEASON
3 days ago, we reported about the horrific knee injury of Bob Slaughter. The news have came in--- he's not returning. He ruptured his medical collateral ligament, an injury so bad that some athletes have had to retire. Slaughter was not available for comments. However, Matt Igoe, the Jacksonville manager, was.
"He was hitting great and everything, and then this. Hope it doesn't affect us."

OTHER NEWS
Jaylen Martin of the Beavers shuts out the Green Knights 4-0, fanning 9 and walking 1 with 7 hits.
