I'm so sorry about your mom. Time with loved ones is so precious and most of us just don't realize how precious it is until they are gone. Praying for you and your family.

Brooding Winter Sky

Gray and cold looking, because we play baseball in the North. This is shown at Bernie Arbour Stadium. It feels good to be back at this, so expect more in the very near future!

Hey Ty,
my condolences for you, losing a mom must be tough. Hope you doing alright.

I was wondering, for a skybox, have you ever thought about doing one that's set in the middle of the woods, trees covering everything in sight, with the sky only visible directly north? Like outside of the ballpark, besides a flat-looking surrounding landscape, it's just trees...is this even possible?

And to answer your question, yes it is possible. Sadly, I've yet to master the proper scaling on it. If I do, then you guys will be in for a steady diet of Northern Michigan forest boxes.

An update

to the skybox tutorial: Mac Users Only, Webponize appears to no longer function in the new Sonoma OS. I'd recommend switching to XConvert as a free alternative.

New one!

Two more going up at the blog later on.

This is done with asrivkin's just posted Greenlawn Park.

No more 4k boxes except by request. This is due to limitations of many GPU's...and they can cause crashes.

Wow, never experimented with skyboxes before but what an improvement. I use mainly smaller parks in my league and from certain angles the default background looks awful, especially since with smaller parks there is a lot of empty space. I annoyed me a lot seeing the default background stick out behind the models and ruining the look. Great stuff Ty!

Over Loyola Marymount's Page Stadium...modeled here in the 3d forums. Shown with the trees in the original model, and without them.
