Is there a reason you prefer the career fielding approach? And I don't mean that in a snarky way. I mean that in a genuine way, in that career is being chosen but to hew closer to history as desired, a 3-year fielding setting would seem better. Career gets all this fielding experience there but then you want to not have the career fielding there. What's the upside in your sim being run having career chosen for it if the setting is delivering undesirable career fielding experience?

I've run with 3-year fielding before. The main reason I've run with career fielding is to help the AI so that it doesn't trade for a position player (like a 3B) and then suddenly he's a 1B. Those kind of changes require the AI to react to something it did not expect and whereas career fielding doesn't surprise it.

But of course the downside is you lose the effect of aging on the defensive abilities of players. Ernie Banks can play SS all of the way until retirement.

I just posted a test run of this problem with 3-year fielding and no minors just so everyone can really wrap their head around this issue.

I dunno, man. I had no idea this problem even existed until I got an in-game email a few days ago letting me know that an old Hank Aaron was the leading vote-getter for the All-Star Game -- at second base.

Combine that with my initial (and incorrect) assumption that this was caused by me toggling fielding ratings, it doesn't surprise me that veterans who play this game a lot initially disbelieve that it's a real issue and not just a quirky user error.

If anyone has trading turned on and are not using 'entire career' fielding ratings, I would be very surprised to find out that this issue isn't occuring right under their noses.

It means if people use his settings they won't have problems. Any problems they're having are caused by their own choices and are easily avoidable. I realize it probably takes several months of interaction with him to see this.

I don't think so. If he has trading on and is using 3-year fielding, then his sim is almost certainly having these problems. But they are not consistent for any particular player so you have to look for it.

Reality isn't the point. The point is what Garlon tries to sell as reality. Whether you now get it or not I quit.
