Scott Breeden

Pitcher Scott Breeden was on the Dodgers' 1960 spring roster. In January 1963, the Dodgers traded him to the Reds for Don Zimmer.

The newspaper photo on the left came from the Delaware County Times (Chester, PA) of January 25, 1963. The Reds' photo came from the Topps Vault.

1950 chuck workman

Wartime and post-war slugger only had eight homers with Lookouts in spacious Engel Stadium -- still enough to lead team.

Hit 52 homers with 182 RBIs in 1948.

Hal Chase Jr. Would-be minor leaguer who never was

These pictures of Hal Chase Jr., son of the famous/infamous former major league first baseman Hal Chase, appeared in a number of newspapers in 1926 alongside articles that said he had been signed by the Mission team of the Pacific Coast League to report in 1928. Junior was 16 at the time. There is no record of him having played with Mission or any other team in organized ball. Newspaper reports have him reporting to the coach of the University of San Francisco team in 1931 and suggest that he had played either with or against independent/semipro teams in Santa Cruz prior to that. I realize that Junior was not technically a "minor league baseball player" and so may not belong in this thread but I thought the story (so far as I was able to piece it together) was interesting and there is that connection to Daddy Chase.

Looking for the missing Ferrell brother

Wes and Rick are easy but George is another matter. Played from 1926 until 1945 in the minors so you'd think he would have a mug shot somewhere. Maybe he just did not want the camera to steal his soul?

Hit .321 for his career and averaged approx. 117 rbi's per 160 games. Played OF and 3B so he must have had an arm. He wasn't fast and was mediocre as an LF so maybe that held him back?

...and here's one more, in uniform, for good measure. As pictured in the 30-Jan-1936 Richmond (VA) Times dispatch.
