Keepers Grab Lead in Food Fight III
Asylum took three-of-four from the Shinbone Stars, the last game on the strength of a three-homer game from Ralph Kiner at Sanitarium Hills Stadium. It gave the Keepers a 7-6 series lead, as they try to win the bet for the first time after two Stars triumphs. Each team has taken turns flirting with the promotion line, which, it seems to me, would be kind of disappointing since there appear to be other OL teams on the way. It would stink to be promoted into limbo again. The season series will conclude today, with each team hosting three games.

![]() I pulled my only perfect card, live Trout during week one. I broke down and bought a second gold pack, picked up a diamond Darrell Evans and a Gold 2012 Houston Street. All before 6am. I put Evans in the AH, offensively he shows to be a better card than Nettles but not enough of a disparity since I feel Nettles will fetch less than half the PP Evans will. On the fence about what to do with Street. |

tourney PSA.... even if you don't have a top notch gold tourney roster, toss in a team for the "Weekly gold perfect point jackpot".... 50K top prize... (and even 5th-8th place gets 5K each)... would be huge for a F2P team.
45 slots left.... kicks off in 9 hours if it fills by then |

Hey guys, I would like to announce that the Lumberton Rockets are leaving the OL. It is a Pirates theme team for me and building it as F2P is a very slow process and I don't have the patience for it. The Asheboro Road Dogs will remain in the OL.
Thanks, Bill

Brigadoon somehow is pulling their season around. Annandale, however, is continuing their slow ride to the depths of perdition!
To you guys working on the collections I say congrats and way to go! I recently decided I would do the same thing with my teams since Brigadoon has limited upgrade candidates available. I’m looking for a very specific type of card and they are hard to come by this year it seems. At least in my price range! I am also tracking things so I will report when I’m a little further along but I am very close to finishing the AL west collection. As crazy as it sounds I will sell Bagwell because he doesn’t fit the team theme... but the Highlanders are definitely going to play Suzuki! With the profit from Bagwell I’m going to probably start the National League collections. Not exactly sure where I’ll go though. But in general collections seemed like such a money maker but it would be silly to ignore them. You people who open great cards from your challenge packs… you’re way ahead of me in that regard. The best thing I’ve gotten has been maybe a low gold (and that was from a freakin gold pack!!) And of course it was a live card so off to the AH it went. But it’s found money so no complaints really. So I have finished the live collections now for all three of my teams. For those that haven't done them yet, they are definitely worth doing. At this point, most of the rewards are usable on most teams (though they don't sell for what they are worth due to the high supply of these players on AH). But, on the other hand, most of the pieces to finish the collections have come down significantly in price the past few weeks. With diligent effort, you could perhaps finish them all in a few to several days.

Put myself behind the 8-ball by selling a lot of live cards early, mostly because I can't read. (Actually, I read well, but I didn't in this particular case) I had glanced at the missions, and assumed they were tougher than they are. When I saw what others were spending to complete a collection, I said, "NO WAY! There's no way they could do that for so few PP, they must..." Then I realized I had missed that you didn't have to collect an entire team, just so-many-of-so-many. Reading is fundamental. ![]()

Palolo is making a late run. WOrking those LIVE collections even though I swore that I would never do them again.

Since hearing of the reduction of Gold packs, I had been very tempted to tempt my bad luck and buy a few to see if I could get anything good from them.
Late last night I won 4 standard packs from winning two tournaments and I acquired a rare Gold pack from challenge mod. I figured that if I did good on these packs, especially the Gold Pack, that I would invest in purchasing a few. 3 out of the four Standard packs produced all Live cards. The fourth pack produced two Bronze non-live cards that I could collect, with one of them being a duplicate, and to my surprise, a Gold 86 Shoei Ohtani. The Gold pack produced one Bronze 64 rated non- live card that I could collect and a Gold 83 JD Martinez. As per my normal card pack luck, both Gold cards aren't worth more than 1,000 pp each as the AH is flooded with several other ones. So this is another example of why I stick to only acquiring cards from the AH and to not waste any PP by buying lousy packs. |

course, that Ohtani is pretty handy for gold tournaments.... nice bat for the lineup or off the bench, and useful off the mound as well

Port Ruppert Clings to Lead in OL OL I181
The Mundys held the slimmest of leads heading today's final month in OL I181, just ahead of the Krikkit War Robots, seeking a second straight crown. The teams face off in a three-game series. The War Robots previously took two-of-three. Midwest Kaiju has set themselves up for a late run should the two leaders stumble.

Shinbone Stars Again Reign Supreme
It came down to the last contest, with the teams tied at nine games each, and Shinbone again triumphed, in a taut 1-0 thriller to win their third straight, and what will likely be the final, OL Food Fight, given that the Stars seem destined for promotion and will represent the OL in gold next season. Asylum, it appears will be joined by other OL clubs at silver, hopefully with enough for a crown chase.

Bronze Update
Hidden Valley makes their move going 10-0 in OL play yesterday to jump into to the top spot. Weston Pointe the previous leader dropped 2 of their only 3 OL contests to fall into third place while Kansas still sits in second.
Remaining OL schedules for the top three: Hidden Valley 12: nine vs. Annadale, three vs. the Puppies. Kansas 6: three vs. Annadale, three vs. Bluffton Weston Pointe 6: All six vs. Cary In Bronze league play: In the NC: Both Weston Pointe and Kansas are two games off the division and currently hold down both wildcard spots. An 18-8 August by Carnegie Hill has them 4 games behind Weston Pointe for the final wildcard spot with Humbolt 4.5 off the pace. In the AC: Hidden Valley has a lock on the first wildcard spot. With a good final month the Puppies are the only other team that has a shot, 4.5 games off the second WC but they have two teams in front of them. For everyone else its playing out the string. |

While Brigadoon is moving along pretty fast at completing the live collections (I’m selling many of the rewards), Annandale has been stuck with a mostly empty wallet all week. We’re getting clobbered in Bronze so earnings have been abysmal (hey, I got 250 for ending a 19 game losing streak...). You gotta have money to make money! |

Ed Walsh (94) became the 1st pitcher in Hooterville history to throw a Perfect Game, while striking out 12!
As a side note, in my 3rd year of perfect team, it is the first time I've ever had a pitcher throw a No-No! |
