Wow, Hernandez had an ERA of 1.92 over 140.1 innings of work in 1984. 32 saves. That was quite a season.

Detroit Tigers sign right-hander Kenta Maeda to two-year, $24 million contract

For a veteran pitcher who can be a veteran presence to the younger pitchers and have the potential of being a decent middle of the rotation guy, not a bad deal.

The article also points out that having a Japanese player on the team could be a help in attracting Yoshinobu Yamamoto or another Japanese pitcher to the team. We'll see.

Good news for the Tigres: Noah Syndergaard won't be allowed a chance to recreate history against Kenta.

Walt Terrell, the only other Mets pitcher to go deep twice in one game, hit his dingers off of future Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins. So Maeda is in good company, at least.

Tigers bring back reliever Andrew Chafin

I like this because I liked him.

Good lefty to add to the bullpen but I hope he'll be more like the early 2022 Chafin in Detroit than what he has been. At 33, more likely that he'll be fading on us.

Tigers lock up prospect Colt Keith with huge deal through 2032

Quote:
He is guaranteed a minimum of $28.6 million. If all three options are exercised at their maximum value, he would earn $82 million.

I like his bat, and he's a big kid. Have him take infield before the game every day, and keep hitting ground balls at him.

I have to wonder about these giant pre-debut deals. I was thinking of the 2018 Mets and that 11-1 start and decided to download one of those games (I lost some of my collection and need to rebuild), so I saw a Phillies game and I saw Scott Kingery and they talked about HIS big "why wait for the majors" 9 year deal or whatever.

So obviously, there's a risk. At least with Acuna and Julio, the teams saw them deliver before going all in.

Acuna and Julio are unicorns. Absolute no-doubters.

Hoping it's just a rumor, but I've heard they are supposed to be incorporating Ted Nugent and Kid Rock into the Tigers city connect uniforms.

I see Carlos Pena has been added to the list of analysts for Tiger tv games this year.

Are the ****ty Connect uniforms like the Nike Ruins Your Uniform for the NFL? Every team eventually suffers through them, like it or not?

Yes, but it hits only a handful of teams every year. The Mets still don't have theirs f.e.;

Think of it as "What reason would the Red Sox have to play in blue and yellow?" ...

Have any teams been get rid of them? I know the NFL teams are allowed to ditch their Nike Disasters after five years, I believe. (All three Florida squads have returned to sanity, for example.)

Will we see the end of the L.A. Dept of Sanitation this decade, do you think?

If the Cardinals aren't in red and white, I'm not buying it.
