1940 Fort Smith (AR) GIANTS
Here's a quartet of pictures from the 1940 Ft. Smith Giants (Class C affiliate of the New York Giants in the Western Association) currently being offered by eBay seller ins3549. They're listed as being 1948, but none of the players were with Fort Smith in 1948 and the only year they were all with the team was 1940 (and they do look like all the same "set"). I've turned them to black & white and cropped them, but did no editing otherwise.

Bill Leinheiser
The Topps Vault is not merely an endless buffet of quality images of short-term major leaguers, but it's also a remarkable resource for photos of career minor leaguers who got as far as spring Traininh and no further.
Such is Mr. Leinheiser, who impressed Brewers' manager Dave Bristol sufficiently in instructional league work after the 1971 season that he got an invitation to Milwaukee's '72 camp and TSN quoted Bristol as thinking Leinheiser might contribute the way unheralded rookie Jim Slaton had the year before. William Leinheiser Minor League Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com He did not. And within six months of that camp his three-year minor league pitching career was over. As we discovered only this week, he did leave behind proof that at least, he was there. |

Here is another LaLonge option, from his 1910 T212 card.
