TSUNESHI MARUO BW
Hometown - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA 2(1)-2-0 Maruo had an odd career. His pro career stretched over ten months and took him from Hawaii to Scotland, to England and the mainland United States. He began with a third round KO of George Frietas in Honolulu. Five months later, he lost an eight rounder on points to a decent boxer named Charlie Kerr in Scotland. Apparently, he hung around on the British Isle a bit because he faced Stan Rowan two months later in London. Remarkably, Maruo took an eight round decision from the talented Rowan. After a three month lay off, Maruo resurfaced in the united States and dropped a ten round decision to Mexican Manny Ortega. After that, Maruo dropped out of the fight scene.

CARL CROOK LW (1985-1993)
Born - Bolton, England, UK Hometown - Chorley, England, UK 26(13)-4-1 Crook amassed a 20(9)-1-1 record against local boys before taking the Commonwealth Lightweight Title from Najib Daho with a twelve round decision. He defended the title five times and won the British Belt as well before losing both in a ninth round KO to Billy Schwer. Crook also lost two bids for the European Title to Antonio Renzo and Jean-Baptiste Mendy (both stoppages). Three of his four career losses were stoppages and came against better competition.

JOEY "The Jab" JACOBS LW
Hometown - Manchester, England, UK 10(2)-5-0 Jacobs defeated Carl Crook in a 10 round non-title bout. He won the British Junior Lightweight Title with a 12 round decision over John Doherty in 1990 but lost the title that same year to Hugh Forde. He also fought for the British Lightweight and WBO Junior Lightweight Titles in losing efforts to Steve Boyle and Kamel Bou Ali. He had a bit of a weak chin, losing three bouts to stoppage as he faced better opponents.

HIRSCH DEMSITZ LW
Born - Denmark 46(13)-6-3 Demsitz fought most of his career in Denmark against local talent. He won the Danish Featherweight Title in 1935 with a third round TKO over Kaj Olsen and lost his lone bid for the Danish Lightweight Title in 1939 to Carl Andersen (who accounts for 2 of his 6 career losses). He holds a decision win over Kid Dussart and was only stopped once in 57 bouts.

KID FARLO WW
Hometown - London, England, UK 2(1)-3-0 Farlo had a brief career that saw him battle Len Wickwar in two losing efforts. Wickwar out pointed Farlo over 15 rounds in 1933 and over 12 rounds in 1935.

HERMAN "Twin" PERLICK WW
Hometown - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA 13(2)-34-4 Herman was a professional opponent but a relatively tough out. He was stopped 5 times in 51 career bouts which is rather impressive given the opponent list on his resume. He dropped bouts to Steve Halaiko, Ruby Goldstein, Patsy Pasculli, Jimmy Lato, Bep van Klaveren, Wesley Ramey, Billy Wallace, Ray Miller, Mickey Cohen, Tony Falco, Tony Canzoneri, Kid Berg, Bruce Flowers and Sammy Mandell. Perlick also managed to out point Eddie Anderson and Solly Seeman.

Thank you for the idea Bear.
HENRY PERLICK LW
Hometown - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA 7(3)-19-5 Like his twin brother Herman, Henry Perlick was a professional opponent. He didn't have quite the chin or durability that Herman possessed, but Henry did face a number of top flight boxers. Those he lost to include Barney Ross, Billy Townsend, Joe Glick, Buster Brown and Kid Berg. Henry beat Harry Kahn on points in 1929 and scorred a TKO victory over a washed up Charlie White (former World Lightweight Champ) who should not have been in the ring.

Another from the professional opponent ranks
WILLIE CHEATUM WW
Hometown - Newark, New Jersey, USA 9(2)-29-13 Cheatum debuted in 1937 with a one round TKO to Ruby Goldstein. Over the next 12 years, Willie carved out a career fighting eight and ten rounders against far more talented boxers such as Jackie Graves, Freddie Dawson, Saverio Turiello, Norment Quarles, Bernie Miller and others. His grit shows in the number of draws and decision losses on his resume, Cheatum was stopped four times in 51 bouts including the opener with Goldstein.

GENE "Honey Bear" BRYANT MW
Hometown - Tucson, Arizona, USA 35(13)-28-6 Bryant was a better boxer than his record might indicate. He fought Denny Moyer four times (once for the NABF Middleweight Title); although Moyer took all four bouts, Bryant pushed Moyer to the final bell each time. Gene won decisions over Nate Williams, Ron Wilson and Hilario Morales. His ten round draw with Mexican great Gaspar Ortega in 1964 may be the most impressive bout of his career.
