Time is running out in the American League as the Chicago White Sox have a double digit lead. A surprised Pirates ball club is at the top of the National League. But Boston
and Brooklyn are within striking distance. Lou Gehrig of Pittsburgh is on his way on being the first player to hit over .400 since 1925 when Riggs Stephenson hit .409.

The voting has started for the First Annual All Star Game. Mel Ott (Pittsburgh Pirates) leads the National League with his 64, 549 votes, while Bill Terry (Cleveland Indians) leads the

Both the Washington Senators and the Boston Braves opened wider leads over their second place teams. Boston bounced back from a mediocre June, and the Senators added
another spectacular month. Cardinals' Goose Goslin and Senators' Joe Sewell each achieved their 2500th hit as well as Senators teammate Rogers Hornsby his 3500th hit. But
not to be outdone, Senators' Lefty Grove won his 250th game.
