I have said this type of thing before and gotten in mild trouble for it, but here we go again: I am so sick of stupid people in life, I could scream. If there must be some social Darwinism at play in order to suppress the truly intelligence-deprived among us in order to improve and preserve the species, so be it.

How many times have we seen stories similar to this? Don't these morons look at those stories in their ramblings among the offerings of social media? For that matter, how about NOT using the internet as your personal plaything? Who in the hell wants to see pictures of your private parts? And duh, where do you think those pictures will end up?

It's not a matter of what he did and the woman involved was not harmed. It's the fact that he is evidently so STUPID to have done it which gives me grim satisfaction over his fate.

Sorry, Airdrop01, Westheim, and other Mets fans, for starting a new page of this thread with that screed above, but I needed to get it off my chest.

Again.

You will note the country of my residence and perhaps that will explain my vehemence to you.

Hopefully, there will shortly be enough good Mets news to swiftly advance this thread to its next page.

Well, look at it this way. Losing this particular GM is no big loss, I would say. I did not see Porter's name featured prominently in any of the stories on the moves that the Mets have made since he came on board. I doubt the team will lose any momentum over this. Good riddance to the dummy.

The Mets losing key non-player personnel through sheer stupidity is becoming a pattern though. I mean the Wilpons are not a big loss, but first Beltran, now this Jared of Jareds.

Hearkening back one last time to a point that I made earlier, how many times do some people have to see the consequences of uttering and showing personal nonsense on social media which, once it's released, is irretrievable, gone forever? How many times before they stop and think: "Gee, I don't want that to happen to me"?

If Cohen and president Sandy Alderson truly are committed to culture change -- i.e., erasing the Wilpon stain from the franchise -- that means no room for half-measures.

But dumping Porter doesn’t go down as just another humiliating episode for the Mets, to be filed away in that skyscraper-sized cabinet full of the facepalms and cringeworthy moments. Cohen and Alderson got the opportunity to rise above that with their unblinking stance Tuesday, allowing the Mets to make something better of the moment, and perhaps emerge stronger in correcting someone else’s destructive mistakes.

In other words, the Mets handled an unfortunate situation in a professional manner rather than looking like a sad sack organization.

I hate to see a local boy get traded, but Matz was in need of a change of scenery, to say the least. The Mets got a trio of attractive young pitchers in return. The paper says it will also free up money to go after Bauer.

Even I am getting excited about these Mets, and I'm not even a fan!

For one thing, you really are going to miss Matz?

Matz’s contract for this year was a non-guaranteed $5.2 million, and for that he still was being steadily nudged from the rotation, especially after the trade for another lefty starter, the Padres’ Joey Lucchesi, earlier this month.

Matz was entering 2021 without a defined role on these Mets -- once again compete for a starting job in spring training, maybe end up as a swingman in middle relief. It couldn’t have been very appealing for him, and the Mets didn’t have much of an appetite for such a plan either.

Instead, they found a taker in the Blue Jays for a classic change-of-scenery gamble, trim $5.2 million from the payroll, create some sought-after depth/flexibility for the pitching staff down into the minors -- and perhaps even prepare for signing Trevor Bauer, the biggest fish left on the free-agent market.

Plus they got three decent prospects for him.
