Not at the moment, the csv exports don't include those stats right now.

No, they're not directly editable as switching them in mid-game without going through the normal change procedure is going to cause some issues with data that's tied to the captaincy. We've been working on improving the starting captains, though - most of the playable leagues in a standard game have that data in the presets file now.

Unless you're the New York Rangers and have to be different by having 6 assistant captains, instead of 1 captain and 2 assistants like everyone else.

Hi, loving this game so far, still learning as I go. A couple quick questions if somebody can help me:

1. Do suspended players take up a roster spot? I had a player suspended and I couldn't call up another player without being over the roster limit, but I had nowhere to put the suspended player. All I could do was send him to the minors, which I didn't want to do. This was during the NHL playoffs, if that makes any difference.

2. Do staff (ie coaches, scouts, etc) attributes change (for better or worse) over time, or are they static?

1 - yes, they do still take a roster spot. We're looking at adding a second suspension type next year that will make the player roster-exempt.

2 - the ratings can change slightly in a standard game, but for the most part they're static (aside from your own ratings.) Reputation, which has the largest part in teams' hiring decisions, does change actively, though. In historical games, staff ratings will change annually for real staff, depending on their actual skill level at the time.

Are the individual defensive attribute ratings of NHL players supposed to give a representation of the actual player, or in reality are they just a combination of values that together make the player the desired level of overall defensive effectiveness? For example, J. Toews is a 19 in both Defensive Read and Positioning and a 10 in Checking- basically Bergeron in the first two and sub-NHL in the latter. Is that in fact his skill set- elite at reading the play and then getting himself into the right position, but once there ineffectual in actually diminishing his opponentÂ’s chances of success? Conversely, J. Bratt has generally low defensive attributes, but a 19 in Checking. So he is a mediocre at best defender who happens to be excellent in something that the FHM manual singles out as being particularly important in determining defensive value?

One thing that I have noticed is that Defensive Game Ratings seem to be high (at least at the top end) both absolutely and relative to Offensive Game Ratings. For example, in back-to-back sims Jodi finished the season with a Defensive Game Rating average of 97 and then 98; the Offensive Game Rating leader was McDavid around 82-85, I believe.

On an individual game basis, it seems common to have three players on a team given a Defensive Game Rating of 90+, even when a team has given up four goals.

If using the Import Historical Player option on the League Edit screen - is there a way to have the player show up in the entry draft? I've tried doing it before the draft, and playing with the age / rights of that player, but can't seem to get them to show in the upcoming draft.

Is there a good primer out there for beginners that explains things things like the financial point system? There is so much to learn and it feels like the core info beginners need to have is scattered across different platforms.

Hi guys, I have a question regarding the trade difficulty in challenge mode. I set it to ''harder'' but found it too difficult for me, so I reset it to normal. I wondered if the effect was immediate since I tried to make a very lopsided trade that was greatly beneficial for the AI and they still largely refused (I offered a prime 4 stars player, three 1st rounds, and a 3 stars (future 5 stars) player for their 5 star player who was on the block. I of course did not want to make such a bad trade but I was curious to see if they would have accepted since I found the trading AI suspect since I changed the difficulty several times in the options). The trade would also have been great for them financially so that wasn't the reason they refused. Is it possible that the trade difficulty did not change back to normal since I'm playing challenge mode ?

No, the difficulty should reset immediately. Depending on how good the 5-star player was, there may have been some very high requirements for what the AI wanted back in return.

You can just copy the save onto a flash drive and then port it over to the new PC.

Just copy the subfolder with the save (it'll have the save's name with a .lg extension) from the save folder on the old computer (usually \Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 8\saved_games) and put it in the same folder on the new one.

I am playing as the Kraken (though I changed the name) and I see after the second season they have the Firebirds as their AHL team, which is very cool.

But as of right now, (beginning of 2nd season, after the draft) I now have both the Checkers and Firebirds as AHL farm teams, and the poor Florida Panthers have no farm team. Does this correct itself before the season starts or should I edit it so the Panthers can have the Checkers back?

It should have removed the Checkers affiliation for Seattle only, I'm not sure why it would've kept it and removed Florida's. But if it's showing up like that on July 1 I think you'll need to manually edit it back to Florida or they'll only be able to use the reserve list for their players.
