SP Sonny Gray left 2 starts early with wrist and hand injuries, also missed a start due to the same injuries.

CF DeLatuer and Barrosa both missed 5 games with moderate injuries sustained during outfield throws.

21yo rookie LF Pete Brace had a decent opening month. He has yet to display the expected power numbers, but has had flashes of his potential.

With the pitching staff fatigued from sustained use and lack of off days, Ohtani took the mound for a spot start and delivered a masterful outing, going 8 innings allowing just a single run, while K'ing 7.

Running low on available arms, the next days SP Aldegheri finished off the game earning the win, moving him to 6-0 on the season.

Leading 4-2 in the 5th, Bello and Amendt fall apart, allowing 7 runs in the frame, leading to another crushing loss for the Shires, who are now 2 games back of rival Windy City. Moore and DeLatuer both provided 3 hits each, pushing their averages to .333 and .326 respectively.

Ellwanger and Kerkering could not contain the Kings offense, as St Louis's offense took the day off, providing just a single run on 2 hits.

Logan Webb allows 5 runs in the 1st 2 innings on a couple of big home runs by Kansas City. The bullpen produced 3 shutout innings, but the Shires were unable to make a comeback.

StL gets back in the win column with a 6th run 8th. Tommy Tanks blasted a 3-run HR to make the score 6-4 KC, after DeLatuer knocked in a run, Shohei Ohtani drilled a 2-run HR to put the Shires up 7-6 to top of the 6-run 8th inning. DeLatuer led off the game with a HR for the 2nd time this season.

Sonny Gray was blasted for 6 R in 5 IP, marking the 1st time in 3 weeks that the SP has pitched past the 3rd innning.

Aldegheri gets his 7th win despite walking 5. Ellwanger makes his late game relief debut and got out of a self-imposed jam to put up a scoreless innning. Hentges records his 12th save in as many opportunities.

3B Christian Moore slapped 2 hits, pushing his AVG above .360

StL welcome rival San Diego to StL and rookie Pete Brace introduces himself to the Silverbacks with a pair of 3-R HR. Ohtani, making his 2nd start of the season was mostly effective, but not quite making it to the 5 IP mark, setting the table for rookie Keifer Lord to earn his 1st win of his career, throwing 4.1 shutout innings in relief.

SP Brayan Bello on a 2 game cold streak, continued his struggles, allowing 4 ER in 3.2 IP before leaving the game with shoulder tendonitis, and will be out for a week.

Abreu had a monster day, responding to the performance of Pete Brace yesterday. Ohtani drilled his 9th HR of the season to go with his 10 SB, putting him on pace for a possible 40-40 season.

LF Pete Brace produced his 2nd multi HR game of the series, while SP Sonny Gray returned t form, throwing 5 shutout innings.

The bullpen allowed 4 runs in 4 IP to suffer another collapse as the Shires lose the series to 1st place San Diego.

Whitlock has allowed 4 HR on the season, all of them have been game tying or lead losing bombs.

The Shires snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and avoid another loss via bullpen collapse.

Logan Webb delivered a nice outing, throwing 6 shutout innings before leaving the game in the 7th with runners on 1st and 3rd. It was vintage Webb with just 1 BB and 7 ground outs.

Whitlock entered the game and allowed the runner to score from 3rd via a wild pitch on the first batter he face. He followed this up with consecutive hits, allowing another inherited runner to score, with the tying run scoring on an error by 1B Tommy White, tying the game at 3.

Ehrlicher would blow the save after allowing a 2-Run double to former Shire, Tirso Ornelas.

* Trading Ornelas due to lack of playing time because of Ohtani and White, may end up being a huge mistake on my part. Both Ornelas and Mauricio are having good seasons for the Outlaws.

Roman Anthony saved the day for the Shires when he hit a monster walk off home run deep into the right center seats.

Man, bullpens are super volatile in this game. I'm at a loss here.

A frustrating day for the Shires as they suffer another bullpen meltdown.

With Ohtani and Anthony on rest days, the Shires struggled to produce runs despite hammering out 11 H. StL left 5 runners on base over the 1st 2 innings, with 14 LOB for the game.

Aldegheri was solid over 6 innings, allowing just 2 R on a 2-run double by former Shire player Ronny Mauricio, who now leads the West in RBI with 35.

Ellwanger entered the game and allowed 6 R, 5 ER in just 0.1 IP. He allowed 5 4 consecutive hits following a leadoff walk, before rookie Keifer Lord threw 2.2 scoreless innings after allowing a inherited runner to score.

I can't figure out how this guy sucks. Even if he's dumb as a rock, his ratings suggest a much better performance that what he provides. Out of curiosity, I shopped him to see what type of haul he could bring, to get a good idea of how the game views him .... and he would return a top level prospect. Of course, once you trade him, he'll go on to become an All-Star, right?

StL gets a 4th consecutive good start from the rotation, as Ohtani throws 6 scoreless innings in his 3rd start of the season. Ahmendt and Hentges combine for 3 clean innings for a combined shutout for the Shires. Hentges is now 13-13 in saves.

Tommy White continues to struggle at the plate and the team is contemplating moving Brace to 1B, and having Tommy Tanks serve as the DH in games that Ohtani pitches.

Ty Johnson delivers the teams 5th straight good outing by the starters, allowing just 1 R over 7.2 innings. Kerkering allowed just 1 runner, which was erased via a double play to record his 1st save on the season, filling in for a resting Hentges.

Quote:
Johnson has been an effective SP for the Shires, 13-7 last year with a 3.83 ERA, but has struggled as a reliever. Ty will likely serve as the team's 5th starter, with the organization hoping the Bello can rediscover his effectiveness pitching out of the bullpen.

Quote:
Moore, the team's most effective position player last season with a 3.3 WAR season, continues to produce and then some. The 3B is posting an OPS+ of 148 while providing above average defense during his 3rd season in NABO.

Make it 6 straight good starts as Sonny Gray delivered in Las Vegas. The StL right hander held the Sharks to 2 R over 6.2 IP. Hentges and Kerkering combined to finish off the game, and the Shires 3rd consecutive win.

C Drew Romo provided the game changing moment with his 3-run HR.

Quote:
Romo, reacquired in the offseason for his defense and leadership, continues to produce on both sides of the ball and may be preparing for his 2nd All-Star appearance.

Quote:
Amendt may be the relief the StL bullpen has been looking for, allowing just 1 run over his last 5 appearances, 8.1 IP.

StL remains 1.5 GB of division leading Windy City, with the Shires leading the Wild Card race.

This past offseason, St Louis traded 2-way prospect Cam Caminiti to Sin City. Today, he had the chance to show the Shires that they made a mistake.

RF Roman Anthony greeted Cam with a leadoff HR and the Shires followed with an onslaught. The Shires put up 7 runs against Caminiti in 2 innings, with Ohtani and White adding HR. Ohtani would go on to hit another HR, giving him 12 HR through 42 team games.

Webb provided the Shires with their 7th straight good start, allowing 1 run over 5.2 IP, despite 4 walks. Brayan Bello returned from shoulder issues to throw 2.1 scoreless innings in his new role as a reliever.

The Shires have won 4 games in a row, moving to withing a 1/2 GB of the Windy City Whitetails.
