Amazing output bear.

Unable to download recent creations at moment but I'm looking forward to when I can.

Excellent work.

Excellent work.

I had announced a project involving old timers over a month ago and hadn't had a chance to start working on it. I was upset about not getting anything done so I just started to plow through it. Now there are just about 20 guys left to work through. .

I'm trying to set up a turn of the century replay and am curious to see how you would rate a couple of fighters:

1. Jim McCormick -- contemporary of Jack Johnson's in Galveston seems to have been a sparring partner and his opponent in several (exhibition?) matches, Wildly inconsistent.. Boxrec 675051

2. Billy Devine -- slightly above average prelim fighter in Philly with around 100 bouts. Are these guys all zeros? I guess if he was better than that he would have fought the 20 round features? Interested to see what you do with them. Boxrec 39931

I did Devine some time ago and will re-post him here. I'll take a look at McCormick. If Devine fought primarily out of Philly the length of the bout is not an issue. There was a period of time, and I don't recall the dates, but bouts longer than 6 rounds were prohibited by law. I've seen more than one writer's top 10 All Time fighter fighter lists place Philly LW Yi Yi Erne on them and since he fought most of his bouts in Philly you can't find many fights longer than 6 on his record.

Interesting fighter to rate. 3 DQ losses in 11 bouts, Made him as aggressive as possible with a fairly high CF to try to get this. Also couldn't rate him a 0 because of his quality of opposition. Just found a more complete record for him in Schutte's Supplement, Will revisit this in the morning

Have you looked at Kid Herrick? With all the Kids you've done in this thread, I was surprised not to have him. Boxrec 11703. I appreciate the requests you've done. I thought those 6 rounders were all prelims, but Devine looked too good not to have at least tried the longer ones. Thanks for the explanation.

Haven't looked at Herrick, but I will. Philadelphia wasn't the only locale with limits on the number of rounds that could be scheduled. California also had limts for a while. Look at Dave Shade's record.
