The Mets (86-73) lead the second-place Atlanta Braves by 5.5 games with three games left in the season. It is the team's first division championship since 2015 and first postseason berth since 2022. The Mets last reached the World Series that year, losing to the Kansas City Royals. |

The Texas Rangers will be a wild card in the American League playoffs after the Houston Astros clinched the AL West Division title with a 9-4 win over the Oakland Athletics.
With an 86-73 record, the Rangers trail Houston by five games in the division with just three games left. The Rangers will be in the postseason for the third consecutive season. With a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers in the final game of the season, the Tampa Bay Rays earned the right to defend their 2024 World Series championship by clinching a wild-card berth in the American League playoffs.
It will be the seventh consecutive trip to the postseason for Tampa Bay. The Rays finished the season 85-77, three games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East Division. Tampa Bay qualified as the third wild card and will face the Texas Rangers in the opening round of the playoffs. The Rays defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2024 World Series for their first MLB championship. |
