At 89-60, the Orioles own a 3.5-game advantage over the New York Yankees in the American League East Division with 13 remaining in the season.
The Yankees also own the second-best record in the AL.
The best record among the division leaders belongs to the Texas Rangers, who top the AL West with an 81-66 mark.
The playoff berth is the first for the Orioles since 2024.
Baltimore last reached the World Series in 1983, when it defeated the Philadelphia Phillies.

The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that left-handed relief pitcher A.J. Minter is expected to miss about a year after suffering a torn flexor tendon in his pitching elbow while pitching in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 24.
Minter, 33, had pitched well in his first season with St. Louis.
He got into 61 games going 2-1 with two saves and a 2.31 ERA.
Left-hander Hoby Milner will be called up from AAA Memphis.
In 35 games with the Redbirds, Milner has gone 3-1 with one save and an 1.83 ERA.
Milner has 351 games of major league experience, and gone 12-9 with one save and a 3.74 ERA.

With a 7-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians, the New York Yankees became the second team to clinch a postseason berth.
Despite sitting in second place in the American League East Division, their 87-67 record puts them four games behind division leading Baltimore, the Yankees know they will at least be a wild card.
This will be the ninth playoff appearance for the Yankees in the last 10 seasons.
New York reached the World Series in 2024, only to lose to the Dodgers.
The Yankees last World Series win came in 2009, when they downed the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Rangers reached the World Series in 2023, defeating the Diamondbacks.

The Atlanta Braves posted a 6-0 victory over the Miami Marlins to assure themselves a berth in the upcoming National League playoffs.
The defending World Series champions, the Braves, at 89-68, sit a half-game behind the New York Mets in the National League East Division standings with five games left in the regular season.
Atlanta also has an outside shot at the top seed in the NL playoffs, as the San Diego Padres, who sit atop the NL West Division, lead it by just a 1.5 games.
The trip to the postseason will be the ninth in a row for Atlanta.
Last year, the Braves won it all by defeating the Cleveland Indians in the World Series.
