Not only did Rolling Hills have to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Tycobbian Union Finals, the Racers were also down 3-2 in the Pro Cup Finals and they had to win two in a row to snatch the 2067 Pro Cup trophy from the valiant Far Mountain Redhawks... with dynamite bats and some strong pitching in the final two games, the Racers won the IPA Pro Cup for a record-setting 6th time.... Rolling Hills defeated Far Mountain 5-2 in the seventh game of the Pro Cup Series.

They are partying in Rolling Hills again. That's a playoff run for the ages.

Stonich or Sutton for MVP?

MVP is a toughy... Stonich, Sutton... should Charley Clutterbuck be considered?... he 4-1 in the playoffs in 5 starts with a 2.43 ERA... two of his victories were "must wins".

He beat Far Mountain twice... 8-3 (game 2) and 11-2 (game 6) in Pro Cup Finals.
He split with San Alejo... lost 4-0 (game 3)... won 7th game of the TU Finals 8-1.
He beat Hillsboro 10-3 (game 3) in first round.

Who should be MVP... taking the entire playoffs into consideration, not just the Pro Cup Series.

Would like comments from any of you viewers.

Need your help.

Teddy Stonich (20 games/29 for 85/.341 BA/8 doubles/0 triples/5 HR/22 RBI/18 runs)... his 22 RBIs is the second best in IPA playoff history... record is 23 by center fielder Barney Lewis for Southport Sun Sox in 2044.

Hugo Sutton (20 games/29 for 76/.382 BA/7 doubles/3 triples/7 HR/19 RBI/21 runs)... record for homers is 8 by right fielder Bailey Norcross of the Middlefield Roosters in 2005, third baseman Craig Glennon of the Southport Sun Sox in 2047 and left fielder Trip Agarn of the Middlefield Roosters in 2052... record for runs is 22 by Carlos Vaz of the Volusia Vigilantes in 2062.

Charley Clutterbuck (5 starts/4-1/2.43 ERA/2 CG/41 IP/32 H/3 HRA/11 BB/9 SO)... won two games in Pro Cup Series... in the postseason he won 2 "must win" games.

Oooooo!

i was impressed by Sutton's triple triple in game six.

But, it should probably go to Clutterbuck. He came thru in some big games.

RACERS TRIO: CLUTTERBUCK, STONICH AND SUTTON NAMED IPA POSTSEASON CO-MVPs
What does it take for a team to capture a Pro Cup trophy?
A ton of talent?... an armload of pitching?... pounds of power?... a touch of class?... loads of confidence?... dab of defense?... a dash of speed?

Well, whatever the magical formula, the Rolling Hill Racers had it this year... they also had some hosses, Hoss... the Racers had some many good players it was hard to pick just one for the 2067 IPA Pro Cup Most Valuable Player, so the sportswriters gave the honor to three players: Charley Clutterbuck, Hugo Sutton and Teddy Stonich... the MVP award is given to the most outstanding player in the Islandian Pro Cup playoffs... he has to excel in all three rounds... the trophy is usually given to a position player because they contribute on a daily basis... not really sure it's right, but less credit is given to a pitcher who contributes every four or five games... it is important to remember that good pitching is vital in critical games.

This year a pitcher was included as one of the Most Valuable Player co-winners... Charley Clutterbuck had an excellent postseason, going 4-1 in 5 starts with a fine 2.43 ERA in 41 innings... opposing teams only hit .216 against him... Clutterbuck saved the season twice by winning "must win" games in the Tycobbian Union title series and in the Pro Cup Finals... Clutterbuck finished the playoffs with a flair... he nailed down the IPA title in the seventh game of the Pro Cup Series... in the regular season the 27-year-old right-hander registered a 13-6 record with a 4.33 ERA in 29 starts... overall Clutterbuck is 126-71 in 9 seasons with a 3.40 ERA... his first 4 years were with the East Point Panthers... he was traded to the Racers in 2063.

But the position players played their part, too, lighting up the scoreboard with plenty of runs... the second member in the MVP trio was center fielder Hugo Sutton, age 27... he was sensational in the postseason with 29 hits in 76 ABs and a .382 BA in 20 games with 7 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored... Sutton came within one of tying the IPA playoff mark for homers and runs scored... Sutton set an IPA playoff record with 3 triples in a single game, the first time that had ever been done... during the regular season he batted .325 with 34 homers and 125 RBIs... career-wise Sutton is a .326 hitter in 6 seasons with 156 home runs.

33-year-old third baseman Teddy Stonich also shared in the MVP award... in 20 games he batted .341 with 29 hits in 91 ABs with 8 doubles, 5 homers, 22 RBIs and 18 runs... Stonich almost tied the record for the most postseason RBIs... he came up one RBI short of the all-time IPA record... lifetime Stonich has batted .332 with 355 roundtrippers and 1385 RBIs... he won the batting crown in the Tycobbian Union this season with a .352 BA... Stonich wound up a huge season with 30 homers and 132 runs batted in... he led the league with 51 doubles... he is an 11-year veteran, all with Rolling Hills.

All 3 Most Valuable Player co-winners have done very well in the postseason... Clutterbuck is 8-4 in 19 starts with an impressive 2.70 ERA... Stonich has been astoundingly good with a .337 BA, 22 homers, 90 RBIs in 120 games... Sutton has batted .325 with 17 homers and 61 runs batted in in 90 games... keep in mind, that these stats are put up against the cream of the crop in the IPA, the best of the best.

I got lucky on the Beechwood Jacks jerseys... I am just borderline average at Jerseys and Logos... but I used the wordmark produced by low or Lawn Loaf... two of my favorite graphic designers... and used it.

I think it came out pretty well.

SLIGO'S ARNETT AND KENWOOD'S MACEDO NAMED IPA MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS FOR 2067
There are 800 players on the 32 regular season Ruthlandian Union rosters and 800 players on the regular season Tycobbian Union rosters... it is quite an honor to be acclaimed the Ruthlandian Union and the Tycobbian Union Most Valuable Players... this year it's a dream come true for Eddy Arnett of the Sligo Rovers and Gabriel Macedo of the Kenwood Wildcats, the recipients of this year's highest awards bestowed by the Island Pro Alliance.

It was a terrific season for Eddy Arnett... the 28-year-old left fielder paced the Sligo Rovers another Ruthlandian West pennant... he was recently named the RU Golden Bat, given to the top hitter in the league... now Arnett has been boosted to another elite level... in only his second season in the IPA he is the 2067 Ruthlandian Union Most Valuable Player... in his first season Arnett was awarded the RU Rookie of the Year honor... this year in 153 games Arnett stood out with a .340 batting average, which was second best in the league... he ranked second in hits with 212... second in RBIs with 122... and 7th in thefts with 46... Arnett's stats showed 32 doubles, 4 triples and 36 roundtrippers.

The best all-round player in the Tycobbian Union was Kenwood's slugging right fielder Gabriel Macedo... at age 33 it was his best season ever... he was the top gun for the highest-scoring club in the IPA... Macedo led the TU and the IPA with 66 homers, 128 runs and 160 RBIs, while batting a lofty .346, second in the TU to Rolling Hills' Teddy Stonich... Stonich batted .353 and kept Macedo from winning the prestigious Triple Crown... this year's Tycobbian Union MVP led the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the TU West... Macedo has played in the IPA for 11 seasons with a .314 career average, 360 homers and 1014 runs batted in... this was his first MVP trophy.

Runner-up to Arnett was this year's RU Golden Arm Award winner, Mark Meisner of the Claxton Diamonds... the 31-year-old portsider led them to a fifth consecutive division flag in the RU South with a 97-57 mark, the best record in the Ruthlandian Union and second in the IPA, topped only by powerhouse Rolling Hills with 100 victories... Meisner led the IPA with 22 wins... overall he was 22-6 with a fine 2.58 ERA... lifetime Meisner is a three-time Golden Arm winner... he is an 11-year veteran with a 110-47 record and a splendid 2.33 ERA.

Arnett also beat out Claxton's talented third baseman Fred Hahn for the Ruthlandian MVP trophy... Hahn sparked the Diamonds to another banner season... they won their 5th RU West pennant in a row... Hahn batted .338 in 150 games with 23 homers and 90 RBIs... he is one of the cornerstones of the Claxton success in the last decade... career-wise Hahn has compiled a .303 batting average in his 13 seasons with 270 homers and 1071 RBIs.

Gabriel Macedo had two strong challengers in the Tycobbian MVP competition... number two in the poll was San Alejo's standout right fielder Dominque Juban... at age 28 he was a huge reason for the Monteneros' success this year with a .334 BA in 153 games with 39 homers, 116 RBIs, 119 runs scored and 24 stolen bases... overall in his 6-year career Juban is a .309 hitter with 114 homers and 534 RBIs... Juban was a prime reason the Monties knocked off Southport in the TU South pennant race... the Sun Sox had won the the IPA Pro Cup the last two seasons.

Third in the Tycobbian MVP balloting was Rolling Hills' gifted center fielder Hugo Sutton... at 27, he has already helped his club win two Pro Cups in 2062 and 2067... they almost won it in 2064, but were upset by Claxton in 7 games... the Racers have won the pennant in each of his 6 seasons... this season Sutton played in 153 games, batted .325 with 34 homers, 126 RBIs, 122 runs scored and stole 26 bases... in his career Sutton has hit .326 with 156 homers and 675 RBIs... he received the 2063 TU Most Valuable Player Award.

ZAHARIAS AND BELLINI ARE SKIPPERS OF THE YEAR IN THE ISLANDIAN PRO ALLIANCE
The Beechwood Jackrabbits raise a lot of eyebrows last year when they hired a female college softball coach as GM and manager, but it has really paid off for them... for turning around the Jackrabbits Didi Zaharias has been named the 2067 Ruthlandian Union Manager of the Year... over in the Tycobbian Union they went the traditional way and picked one of the good old boys, Jurrien Bellini, who performed miracles for the Hillsboro Blazers this season.

A super successful stint at Ruthlandian State University won her the Beechwood job in the Islandian Pro Alliance... it only took Zaharias two short years to turn the long-suffering team around... the Jacks were 70-84 in 2066, her first season, ending up in 7th place 14 GB... this year Beechwood improved to 86-68, winding up in second place, just 4 games behind the pennant-winning Marston Nine in the RU East.

Zaharias just barely beat out Far Mountain's skipper Benjy Donahue for the best manager honor... Donahue had an excellent season, too... his Redhawks went from 7th place and 19 GB with a 69-85 mark to an 88-67 record and the RU North pennant... Donahue has skippered the team for 10 seasons... no other Ruthlandian managers received any votes in the poll.

The competition was just as spirited in the Tycobbian Union with three contenders... the 2067 TU Manager of the Year was Jurien Bellini... he bested Alain Cheval of La Claire and Marty Blake of White River... Bellini, a former star slugger for the Blazers, jumped the Hillsboro Blazers from 7th place to 1st place in the TU East, upping the team record from 73-81 to 88-66... Bellini was appointed manager in 2062.

Cheval had the best improvement in the IPA when he took his La Claire Lynx (59-95) from 7th place and 52 GB in the TU West to a second-place finish (87-67), 13 games behind the Rolling Hills Racers... Cheval was a utility infielder for 13 years with a .245 BA and 42 homers for Cold Creek and La Claire... Cheval has been at the helm of the Lynx for 7 seasons.

Third in the top skipper poll was Marty Blake... he saw his Rascals jump from 76-78 to 91-63... from 4th place and 11 GB to the TU North title... Blake is an IPA HOF player with 711 homers (6th), 2125 RBIs (4th) and a .312 BA in his 23 years... he has been skipper for 2 years.
