I've created another historical league yesterday and the same thing happen again with a pitcher suspension but it basically the same result than the injury, the pitcher is out of the game. Maybe I have found something since the 2 seasons have something in common : Is it possible that the crash happen because of the database choose to create the league? I've used the Gambo database (2007 ver 1.5) each time. I try a new one with the Lahman database include with the game.

Merge away, Nut. It's best all in one place.

I had it happen to me 3 times,Once in the top of the first inning and two other times I don't remember the innings. They were in historical NL leagues so there was no DH,it has nothing to do with a double switch either(it happened to me in the top of the first inning)one thing I am wondering is if the bug dosen't exist in commissioner mode since the techs have such a hard time duplicating it.Either way it has me disgusted to high heaven.I will not start a new league until this has been eradicated and I will not let it be ignored either

Pitcher injury problem just occurred again in my brand new V2009 fictional league. Nothing imported from 2008. I'm aware that a solution is being sought.

Hi everyone,
I'm really, really sad to hear that this bug is still in the game. But I have something else to throw on the fire that will make this bug even harder to track down. OldFatGuy might remember me from some ot the OOTP2007/8 threads regarding this issue - I was having this crash happen every time I tried to sub for an injured pitcher, so basically my pitchers were invincible. I was really hoping OOTP9 would fix this. Well, I imported my league over to OOTP 9 - and then actually I started over again and re-imported it into the latest patch of OOTP 9 once I heard about the issue with L/R splits. I had a pitcher get hurt in spring training, crossed my fingers, dragged a sub in for him... and the game didn't crash! I did a happy dance because I figured Markus and crew must've fixed the bug this time! But it sounds like maybe it might just have been a fluke - as others are still running into it. Very sad. The big question is this - why did OldFatGuy's imported league still have the problem while my imported league seemed to work OK (at least for the moment)? There's truly no visible pattern to what is causing the crash. I'll post back the next time a pitcher gets hurt and let everyone know if I survive through another injury or if the crash hits me this time. |

Yes - I use a DH in my league and it was happening to me in OOTP 2007 until I imported it to OOTP9. I've had one pitcher get injured in a game in spring training in OOTP 9 and the game did NOT crash. However, it's worth noting that when I first experienced the crash, my league was NOT using the DH.

My league was imported using Lahman 5.4 back in OOTP 2007 starting in the year 1970 playing as the Orioles. No commonalities with any of your leagues thus far.
For some reason my replies don't seem to be showing up in this thread. Hope it's a temporary issue. If I look down at the "Topic Review" while I'm posting this, I see my posts as well as several other posts that aren't displaying on page 4 for some reason. I wonder if something got messed up when the threads were merged and it's not displaying properly. Hopefully somebody notices!! |

I could NEVER recreate it, but it did import into OOTP9. And I realize that AESP-Pres has had his strike in newly created leagues, I still believe it is a league issue. After I was unable to recreate it after several tries, the bug showed its ugly head on the FIRST pitcher injury that occurred when I used HIS league that he emailed me. There is something in the LEAGUE files causing this. How that corruption gets there is beyond me, I always blamed the frequent power outages in my area. And to answer another of your questions, it matters NOT ONE IOTA of any changes or lack thereof previous to the injury. I've had them injured in the first inning and if the bug is present, it crashes as soon as you drag him to the pitcher box. I've even dragged him to the ninth batting slot, and it lets me do that, but as soon as you hit the "P" in the position drop down menu to make him the pitcher, CRASH. |

Just to make sure this gets updated here... it looks like with everyone's help, Markus finally found the bug. There's an open thread on this in the General forum: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...g-amazing.html
If your League Strategy for closer usage is set to "rarely", the game crashes when you sub for your pitcher. No wonder it was so hard to find! And no wonder it didn't happen to that many people. It would only happen to those who play out their games in an era before say 1974 with the imported era strategies. I'm hoping this will make it into the July patch, but if you're experiencing the bug, hopefully just changing the League Strategy for closer usage to anything but "Rarely" should fix the issue in the meantime! The reason my league didn't crash in OOTP9 was because I guess in 1974 the strategy changed from "Rarely" to "Normal". In 1970 to 1973 (the last year I played using OOTP 2007), the strategy was "Rarely", hence the crashes. Woohoo!! Hopefully it's finally fixed!

Okay, as this issue has been claimed fixed for the upcoming patch, I will now close out this thread. While the issue is claimed fixed, it has not yet been verified (and it is very tricky to do so). If after installing the upcoming patch, you still see this behavior, please immediately post in Tech Support with a link to this thread so that we can open the report back up. Thanks.
