If Logan Webb is as tough as he was in game one - and LA's hitters are as undisciplined against him as they were against him in game one - then this will be true.
That said, Julio Urias is playoff-battle-tested and despite winning two games by relatively large margins, Dodger batters have hit the ball better than the scores would reflect - but alot of right-at-em's and warning-track blasts. Could go either way. (Not breaking any news here.) |

Game 5, Dodgers vs. Giants tonight — sorry, Braves fans, but this feels like it should be the NLCS. Although, am rooting for Braves a bit, in favor of Freddie Freeman. Read about that guy recently; would have loved to have had him on my team all these years. Not just because of his bat.

Even as someone who hates the Barves like a pro - it's hard to hate Freddie Freeman.

The Dodgers are starting Corey Knebel as an opener tonight. Presumably this is because SF stacks it's lineup with RH batters against lefties. So this will force Kapler to either modify his lineup, or keep it the same but not have the R/L advantage in the first inning.
Urias, who will surely follow Knebel, is playoff tested. Knebel, has been a top-level closer before and pitched well for LA in a limited but high-leverage role this season. If Knebel shuts down SF in the 1st inning, and Urias is solid for 6 innings, then Roberts is all set for Treinen in the 8th and Jansen in the 9th... Of course that's provided the Dodger bats can do a bit better against Webb than they did in Game 1... So this move is either brilliant, or Roberts being too crafty for his own good... Time (about 6 hours of it) will tell... |

If Houston makes it to the World Series I'm not watching a single minute of it.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Bro, seriously??? The Giants, Brewers, Blue Jays, Rays, White Sox, and Mariners ALL have 90+ win seasons, and we're still gonna end up with 2018 ALCS and 2020 NLCS rematches?
**** this, i'm not watching. I want something new.

MLB could add some spark ---
Tell us that IF Atlanta wins the NLCS ------ that no World Series games would be played in Atlanta .... Pull the All-Star game >>>>> Pull the World Series Games.

Good gawd no. As if we don't have enough divisive politics in so many aspects of sports and entertainment already... But no way MLB would want that to detract from its Fall Classic. When they pulled the All-Star Game, they had four months before the event itself for the story to fade away into insignificance.

Makes me wonder what previous decades have been like as well. The teams are: Los Angeles Dodgers (9 playoffs appearances, 1 World Series win) New York Yankees (9, 0) St. Louis Cardinals (7, 0) Houston Astros (6, 1) Atlanta Braves (6, 0) Oakland A's (6, 0) Boston Red Sox (5, 2) Chicago Cubs (5, 1) Washington Nationals (5, 1)

Only teams left that I am benevolently indifferent towards, besides hating the entirety of the NLCS matchup.

Two cheaters and/or cheat-adjacents, one team that seems to have made the postseason every year since the Carter administration, and one At Least They’re Only Politically Incorrect. Yay. 😅

I think it's safe to say that if we get Dodgers / Astros, the Dodgers will be gritting their teeth in every at bat. I'd bet they're already thinking it in the back of their minds.
