Idk. I just think it would be helpful for ootp to make it easier to post stats. We have dynasty, historical, fictional forums. I would imagine people would like to share their stats as well as talk about their league. |

The Louisville Four
The 1877 baseball season faced a rocky start as New York and Philadelphia were expelled from the league for not completing their season schedules. Despite the loss of two teams, the league carried on with six remaining teams. However, on October 1st, reports surfaced in the Louisville papers alleging that four members of the Louisville Grays were accepting bribes to throw games. Although there was no concrete evidence to support the claim, fearing a scandal, Commissioner Hulbert banned the four players from the league for life. The banned players were George Hall, Bill Craver, Al Nichols, and Jim Devlin, of which only Nichols' stats were questionable. Ex-commissioner Henry Chadwick suggested that Nichols may have been simply a terrible ballplayer. Nevertheless, the ban on the four players stood. The 1877 National League standings saw the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Stockings finishing at the top of the league, with the Reds leading by only one game. The Hartford Dark Blues, Boston Red Caps, St. Louis Brown Stockings, and Louisville Grays rounded out the rest of the league standings. In the post-season World Championship Series, the White Stockings emerged victorious in a five-game series against the Reds. Looking at the league batting stats, the Red Caps led the league in runs per game, with an average of 6.0, followed by the White Stockings with 5.7. The Red Caps also topped in hits, doubles, and stolen bases, while the White Stockings led in triples. The Red Caps finished the season with a .279 batting average and a .305 on-base percentage, while the White Stockings finished with a .291 batting average and a .312 on-base percentage. On the pitching front, the Reds led the league in fewest runs allowed per game, giving up only 3.9, followed closely by the White Stockings with 4.3. The Reds boasted the lowest ERA at 2.10 and the lowest WHIP at 1.13. On the other hand, the Louisville Grays had the highest ERA at 5.09 and the highest WHIP at 1.68. Overall, the league batting average was .270, while the league ERA was 2.85. |

The White Stockings topped the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 at 23rd Street Grounds today to claim the World Championship Series crown. "Nobody can take this away from us, not ever," said series MVP and left fielder John W Glenn after his club had sealed the victory. "We worked hard and we accomplished our goal." The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day. "From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes," said Chicago manager Al Spalding. "The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that. They're champions of the world." The White Stockings took the series 4-1. Your font here for presenting the standings and players stats is perfect for the content - looks like it's from 1871 itself - not a criticism, a compliment, looks very cool.

I can arrange it a little bit but he's the one that helped me to be able to put it in boxes. Really helpful for separating playoffs games. |

Had to replay the season. I missed moving Dick Higham to Providence.
I was wondering why Providence was so bad and in last place. Didn't notice till after the season and i was releasing players and he wasn't on Providence's roster. Turns out he was the missing piece for Providence. Pretty good race between Providence, Cincinnati, Boston and Chicago. Last edited by BaseballMan; 04-18-2023 at 06:59 PM. |

It took 12 innings to settle Game 2 of the World Championship Series, but Chicago eventually took a walk-off 10-9 win behind the efforts of starting pitcher Terry Larkin. Larkin came in in relief and pitched to 23 batters to aid the Chicago cause. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-7 series. In the bottom of the 12th, Jack Remsen knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a run-scoring single off Providence pitcher Cherokee Fisher. "It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Remsen. Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Messer Street Grounds in Providence.
