Al Pratt, 1868 Riverside of Portsmouth (Ohio) Base Ball Club

A super rare photo of Al Pratt, the pitcher for the 1871 Cleveland Forest Citys in full uniform with the Riverside of Portsmouth BBC in 1868.

Phillips Academy Andover (Massachusetts) 1864 team photo?

Photo is labeled as being the Andover team of 1864 even though the current team's logo says 'est. 1886' on it so it's possible this may have been a team some students just organized for fun.

Henry Hyde, Amherst Club, 1859

Henry Dwight Hyde, he was the confirmed pitcher for the club. Here is an image that came along with a note like the others, as well as a studio photo of him holding the ball that was supposedly used in the first game. I put a picture of the two balls used in the first game. Notice how small they are.

I can read the second and the last notes, and some of the first one but I'm not very good at reading certain people's cursive writing. Note 3 is basically impossible for me to make out.

Charles' mother was named Ann Schuyler Bogart and had a few siblings with the middle name. It was also her father's middle name too. I looked into it a bit more and found that there was a great grandfather (i think?) named Myndert Schuyler. Going back a few more generations, I traced it back to a person named Pieter Tjercks, born in 1601 in Germany who appears to have changed his last name to Schuyler at some point. He is the earliest record I can find with that name in the family.

1860 Brooklyn Excelsiors team photo

Also known as the Excelsior of Brooklyn or the Excelsiors of Brooklyn. This is their famous 1860 team. In order we have Thomas Reynolds (3B), John Whiting (SS), Jim Creighton (P), Henry Polhemus (2B), Aleck Pearsall (1B), Edwin Russell (LF), Joe Leggett (C), Asa Brainard (RF), and George Flanly (CF).

1867 Nationals of Albany (New York)

Aka the National Club of Albany, Albany Nationals, Albany National, etc.

Players in order from left to right are Cantwell, Spelman, Stimson, Gould, Ertzberger, Woolverton, Waddell, J. McClure, Ross, A. Bush, E. Sprague, and Lansing. This does not include the names of the personnel in suits and I cannot find a better quality image of this team, so the names are not very visible.

1865 Nationals of Albany

This one is 2 years older but much clearer than the 1867 team photo. Here you can clearly see the names of all the players as well as better views of the faces too. In order we have Lansing, Sprague, Johnson, Server, Waddell, Ross (the captain that year), Woolverton, Cantwell, and McClure. The men in the suits in order are E.W. Tracy (vice president), W. Bruce Jr. (secretary?), and E.C. Smith (club president).

Peter O'Brien, Brooklyn Atlantics Drawing

From the 1865 'Jim Creighton Poster' which featured the best players in the National Association of Base Ball Players on it. This is the only depiction I was able to find of O'Brien wearing the cap with the uniform.
