Not wanting to keep up is just a lame excuse. I've been frustrated myself sometimes too because losing sucks, and not getting great cards from packs also sucks.

The draft format is the same for all. No one can pay their way through, so everyone gets an equal shot. This means you don't have to be a big spender or buy loads of Perfect Points with real cash.

The same goes for rewards. Imagine if everyone got 101 Perfect cards from Standard Packs. I'd probably stop playing right there. What's the point? Might as well just print the cards at home!
Like the economy, they are squeezing out the middle class.

And I don't think the game rewards patience and effort (unless the effort in question is the effort of typing in your credit card number). Until the last week, I have been a user who made sure to get almost all (90%+ of those available) Twitch packs and played tourneys. I am still stuck with packs that are 90%+ duplicates and incomplete missions that I have no hope of completing. Which, in turn, means that not only do I not get to be part of the 2%, but I get shunted down to languish in the purgatory of Silver for the rest of the season.

I won't buy OOTP26, because the only thing I enjoy about OOTP25 at this point is rewriting history with a random debut save in the main game. And I don't need to buy the new version each year to enjoy that. The only reason I have bought the game the last three years was because I enjoyed PT - even though I never made it to Perfect League and spent less than ten total seasons in Diamond.

Clearly, the devs don't care about my $40. It is what it is, at this point. I am glad you and the others who are defending the devs are enjoying PT. May you continue to do so.

I mean, regardless of what side of this conversation you're on, I think if you can't find $40 worth of value in what OOTP25 offers you right out of the (virtual) box then there's not much that's going to please you.

To be fair, I think the "Devs" do care about your $40. but I also think it's Com2US that doesn't. When you have a business plan with a $40. subscription price and $2000. plus in options it's the folks that buy the add-ons that drive the car. For 13 years I loved the $40. classic game when that's all there was... I'll just have to accept I need to go back to that mindset.

It's not what you pull, it's what you buy (and I hope it's not more packs).
Out of ~1500 packs earned (not bought), (plus achievement points) I have over 10,000 cards, 16 perfect and 271 diamonds. I think that beats the odds.

Every now and then people in Vegas beat the odds and walk out millionaires too. Don't bet the house.

I’ve spent a little bit as a treat for myself this year and still haven’t gone past silver. I skipped last year but I’ve been enjoying the collection side of it but… yeah, fielding a team of 100s and 99s and still hanging around in bronze isn’t the most fun.

So... Less than almost every other version of OOTP considering they've lost the rights to leagues meaning there's less there than there used to be?

While I do understand the frustration with Perfect Team, especially since what I consider a material change in the mission structure, the quote above is right on. The game itself is a marvel, and I personally get great enjoyment out of playing the game outside of Perfect Team. It's really a masterpiece.

It’s great to see positivity.

I believe the increase in dups is due to the changed ratio between live and historical cards, which is not a bad thing. More historicals means more mission progress, as the historicals show up in more missions. They're also more valuable in general, especially at Diamond and Perfect.

I certainly understand the business side of the game, but I'm gobsmacked as to why a secondary "tier level league" can't be added to keep F2Pers involved longer. I posted before about Gold-Silver-Bronze leagues that allow only cards at that level and below, and teams that have spent zero on PT points. Yes, I know, the company wouldn't make anything off such a structure - but maybe 5,000 teams that quit playing after July would remain active well into the Winter, and word would get out that PT is even fun for F2Per's.

But alas, few listen and even fewer care. Easier to just accept PT is a March to July game for F2Per's and move on to something else after July. I still love the classic game, and that's where I'm at now.
Why oh why hasn't OOTP made leagues for Perfect, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc cards and below only? More people would be very engaged & willing spend more $$$ to get cards. Let the whales play with the whales as it already is right now. If you dont understand the concept its like a Gold League would be Gold cards only or below, etc I might start running 3 leagues again instead of just 1 I been doing the last 3 years or so.

You are absolutely right that people would be willing to spend money on these leagues and here is a silver league team with 26 combinator cards. Good luck!

People will just be in here complaining about how the "Whales" are blasting them in every single tier and how they can no longer win anywhere at any time. Which is BTW, exactly what will happen.

Yep. There are already a fair number of players running Iron and higher tournament teams loaded with Combinators. They'd just transfer those to league and dominate there. Unless and until Combinators are nuked, capping leagues like tournaments will remain a non-solution.
