BAPTISTA EDGES MANUSH FOR IPA PLAYOFF MOST VALUABLE PLAYER HONOR
Forest City has quite a few key performers in their remarkable Pro Cup run this season... it is tough to choose just one most outstanding player in the IPA Pro Cup playoffs... the 2068 IPA Pro Cup Most Valuable Player Award went to pitcher Bruno Baptista, who went unbeaten in the postseason and clinched the honor by defeating the Rolling Hills Racers twice in the Pro Cup Series... Baptista just barely outpolled his teammate Pete Manush in the balloting... they were the only two votegetters in the poll.

Baptista filled two spots in the Firebirds' pitching rotation... he was a closer as well as a starter... Baptista appeared in 7 postseason games, made 3 starts and had two saves... he finished the playoffs with a 3-0 record and an excellent 2.10 ERA... as a starter Baptista beat Wynnamac 3-2 in the first round and Rolling Hills 5-2 and 6-2 in the Pro Cup Finals... Forest City was 7-1 in his appearances... Baptista started 32 games this season and wound up 15-14 with a strong 2.69 ERA... this year's IPA Pro Cup MVP is just 23 and has been with the Firebirds for three seasons... overall Baptista is 34-31 with a 3.09 ERA... he was a closer his first two seasons and chalked up 18 saves.

Pete Manush also excelled... he was 4-1 in 6 starts with a terrific 1.54 ERA... Manush posted wins over Wynnamac 3-1, topped Claxton twice 4-2 and 4-1 and stopped Rolling Hills 4-1 in the Pro Cup Series opener... his only defeat came at the hands of the Racers 7-0 in game 5... but it was not as bad as the score indicated... Manush only allowed 1 earned run in the loss... during the regular season he was 18-11 with a 2.66 ERA... Manush is 30 years old and a 3-year veteran... in his career he is just 38-40 with a 3.30 ERA in 94 starts.

Gotta tip my hat to the Firebirds. i knew it was possible. But i didn't think they'd be able to beat Rolling Hills twice at home.

IPA PRESENTS AWARDS FOR THE 2068 SEASON
The Islandian Pro Alliance just concluded its 68th season with the awarding of the batting, pitching and defensive honors... 10 awards were bestowed on the top players for the season... the Ruthlandian Union and Tycobbian Union presented their Golden Bat, Golden Arm, Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Golden Glove Awards.

TOP RUTHLANDIAN UNION HONORS GO TO BARTELS, MEISNER AND 2-WAY PLAYER HATFIELD

Wynnamac's super outfielder Snooky Bartels nabbed his second RU Golden Bat honor by beating out his teammate Manny Sendejas and Ancona's Marcellus Dillaway... Bartels first won the Golden Bat in 2061... for the year Bartels sizzled with a .342 BA in 148 games... he piled up 206 hits, 40 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs, 107 RBIs and scored 112 runs.

A sparkling 19-4 record for the year just about says it all... that's the numbers Mark Meisner of the Claxton Diamonds put up this season... his is the recipient of the Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm trophy... Meisner is on an absolutely amazing run... this is the fourth consecutive season he has copped the top pitcher award... this season the 32-year-old southpaw outpolled Zac Chandler of LaGrange and Mitch Switzer of the Fort Benton Generals.

The 2068 RU Rookie of the Year is a rare breed in IPA baseball circles -- a two-way player -- not only did Tuffy Hatfield toe the rubber for the Kilkenny Cats, he also handled first-base duties as well... Hatfield was 14-12 with a fine 2.95 ERA for the cellar-dwelling Cats, but he also batted .251 with 17 homers and 62 RBIs in 110 games... Hatfield won the Golden Glove this year as a pitcher, but he also stood out at first base with a .996 FA in 79 games.

Ollie Daggs, shortstop for the Eastshore Cotton Kings finished second in the top rookie voting, while Slim Korndorfer of the Rocky Rapids Snappers finished in the third spot.

The all-important RU Most Valuable Player Award went again to Mark Meisner of Claxton... he bested two Wynnamac stars for the acclaimed honor... this was Meisner's first MVP trophy... he paced the Diamonds to their 6th straight RU South Division title... Golden Bat winner Snooky Bartels and Manny Sendejas finished second and third in the MVP poll... the pair led the Sundowners to the RU East pennant... that's the 3rd division crown in the last 5 years for the Macs.

MACEDO, HANLON AND OSINSKI SNARE TYCOBBIAN UNION TOP AWARDS
The 2068 Tycobbian Union Awards went to Gabriel Macedo of Kenwood, Caine Hanlon of South Fork and Sasha Osinski of Southport... the TU Golden Bat went to Macedo, the TU Golden Arm to Hanlon and the TU Rookie of the Year was Osinski.

Gabriel Macedo was the best batter in the Tycobbian Union this year... followed by two Rolling Hills' stars Terry Stonich and Jimmy Brandini... the Kenwood outfielder picked up his second TU Golden Bat... he also won it last year... the 34-year-old veteran right fielder hit his way to the Golden Bat trophy with a .329 BA, 197 hits, 22 doubles, 2 triples and 55 homers... Macedo also scored 111 runs and drove in 139 runs... he paced the IPA in RBIs and wound up second in homers.

It was a standout season for the TU Golden Arm, Caine Hanlon, a first-time honoree... his South Fork Stallions languished in 6th place, but the 28-year-old right hander still chalked up a superb 21-8 mark with an impressive 2.33 ERA in 263 innings and 32 starts... Gino Angeletti of the Red Bluff Red Sox wound up in the runner-up spot in the Golden Arm poll... and Billy Pearl of the Turon Typhoons finished in third place.

The Tycobbian Rookie of the Year Sasha Osinski played an important role in the Southport Sun Sox winning the pennant in the TU South by putting some perk and punch inTO the lineup... the talented first sacker batted .296 in 135 games, racking up 155 hits, 22 homers, 80 ribbies and 72 runs scored... Denton City center fielder Emmett Harman was second in the newcomer poll and hurler Franco Sevilla of the Luxora Zorros came in third.

PRO CUP SKIPPERS ACCLAIMED THE BEST IN THE IPA FOR 2068
The top two managers in the Islandian Pro Alliance tangled in the 2068 Pro Cup Series... both were clear-cut winners in the Manager of the Year polls... in deserving fashion veteran Billy Christianson of Rolling Hills was honored for a record sixth time in the Tycobbian Union, while newcomer Randy Snow claimed it in the Ruthlandian Union... in an amazing rookie season Snow won everything in sight, the RU West pennant, the Pro Cup trophy and he was selected as the outstanding Tycobbian skipper.

Ruthlandian Union

Under Snow the Forest City Firebirds sizzled in 2068, upping their record from 61-93 to 88-66, rising up from the RU West cellar to the top spot... Snow's Firebirds went on to upset Christianson's mighty Racers in the IPA Finals four games to three.

Snow beat out LaGrange's John Rodgers, Wynnamac's Jerry Meeks and Eastshore's Malcolm Tansbury for the Ruthlandian standout skipper honor... Rodgers had a fine year, moving his Gators from second place to first place in the RU North... LaGrange improved from 84-70 to 94-60... third in the best Ruthlandian manager balloting was Jerry Meeks of the Wynnamac Sundowners... the Macs climbed from third place to the top spot in the RU East with a much-improved 94-60 record... they were third the previous season with an 84-60 mark... it was also a terrific year for Tansbury as the Cotton Kings were walking tall in high cotton with a jump from the RU basement to the third spot in the RU East... Eastshore leaped from 66-88 to 80-74 this season.

Tycobbian Union

Rolling Hills' Billy Christianson has the tough job to get better every year... it is a very tough job to keep a team at a high level season after season, but he does it... his Racers won 100 games in 2067... they did better this season with a 101-53 record... Christianson has dominated the Tycobbian Union, winning his fourth best manager trophy in the last five years.

Four managers stood out in the competition this year in the Tycobbian Union... three of them rose up from deep in the depths of the standings and all of them did gloriously and wound up in second place... Nate Scottsdale took his Turon Typhoons from eighth place to second place in the TU South... Scottsdale paced his club from a last place 63-91 to a much better 81-73... Luxora's Donald Wren sparked his club from last place to the runner-up spot in the Tycobbian North race, going from 63-91 to 80-64... and what a season habitual loser Colchester had with new skipper Dickie Teal, who just took the helm this season... for the first time in 15 seasons his Elites posted a winning season with an 81-73 mark... Colchester finished in the seventh position in '67, trailing with a 70-84 record... they tied with Turon for the runner-up spot in the TU South.

That concludes the 68th season for the Islandian Pro Alliance.

Will take a rest for a few days and then get ready for the 2069 season.

Thank you all for keeping up with the IPA over the years... you are very much appreciated.

I lost my new dynasty league, the South Island Recreation League.
Matt Arnold tried to help me... I tried all of his suggestions, but none of them worked... it is really disappointing... my logos, jerseys and caps were really nice in the South Island League... I was really excited about playing it.

I think my OOTP saved games are corrupted.

I am afraid the Islandian Pro Alliance may be corrupted, too.
Hope not.

I will begin adding 3 rookies to each team and see what happens when I begin playing the 2069 season... If I get ridiculously high game scores in spring training games like 100-75... 98-50... 122-105... then the IPA will come to an unpleasant and sad ending.

But you know OOTP is not life and death...if necessary, there is life without the IPA.

Maybe the Islandian Pro Alliance might be OK... I have not messed with the league totals and modifiers.

I added rookies to 12 teams tonight... 52 more to go... will continue to work on them... hopefully season 69 is coming up soon in the IPA.

If the IPA is OK, I will spend all my time on it.

Will work on some jerseys updates on a few teams.

Might see if txranger will do a new IPA league logo... he did a great job on the current one, but it would be good to update it.
