In back to back games, The Shires got a much needed PH HR, this time it was off the bat of Jorge Barrosa, called into action when Adolis Garcia was injured running the bases. The blast came in the top of the 7th inning, putting StL up 3-2.

After Ohtani threw 6 shutout innings, he left the game in the 7th with a runner on. Hoffman entered the game and immediately gave up a 2-run HR, bringing the Pirates to within a run.

Anthony kept the hot hitting going with an RBI double in the 9th, and Hentges threw a clean inning to record his 28th save.

After getting swept by Guadalajara in a 4 game series, StL has taken series from contending Vancouver and 1st place Port au Prince.

The "Battle of the Horsies" took extra time to decide in this exciting affair, as San Antonio topped St Louis 6-5 in 16 long innings.

Aldegheri was shaky in his 1st poor start of the season, allowing 5 ER in 6+ IP. The Shires bullpen put up 8.2 scoreless IP before Abbott allowed the go ahead, and eventual, game winning run in the 16th.

The Shires were fortunate to tie the game in the 9th as SA RP McKay entered the game with the bases loaded and walked in 2 runs to tie the game 5-5.

StL has grown comfortable with Ohtani dominating on the mound, but tonight he dominated at the plate, going 4-4, driving in 2 early runs to tie up the game 2-2. In th 5th All-Star CF Chase DeLatuer bombed a 2-run HR to put StL up 4-2, and the pitchers pitched well enough to preserve the lead, with Hentges racking up his 29th save.

The 'Horsies' put up another great game in this series, taking a 2-2 tie into the 9th inning before McAdoo singles with 2 on off rookie Keifer Lord to give the Stallions a 3-2 lead, and eventual win.

DeLatuer homered for the 2nd straight game, driving in StL's only 2 runs with a 2-R HR. Johnson was solid on the mound as the starter and the bullpen was effective, just not enough to win the game.

After dominating game 1 of the series, the Shires drop the last 2 games, and the series.

The last time these two teams met they took turns destroying each other's bullpen ... and the scoreboard, with the high amount of run scoring.

This time around they decided to play 3 1-run games, all of the low scoring. Space City walked off the final game, winning the series 2-1.

StL has lost its 4th consecutive series after the All-Star break.

StL takes 2 of 3 from Texas, with the Shires winning a series for the 1st time in the 2nd half.

Mexico City comes into St Louis and handles the Shires convincingly, winning 3 of 4 in the Gateway City.

St Louis splits the 4-game surging against surging 3rd place Kansas City.

StL is now just a game up on 2nd place Windy City.

The struggling Shires welcomed the 2nd best team in the West to St Louis, and struggled through a tough game to eventually win it late with a dramatic walk off.

Aldegheri labored his way through this start, pitching in and out of trouble, before losing the lead in the 6th.

Trailing 5-2, heading into the bottom of the 8th The Shires put up a rally to tie the game 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, All-Star 3B Christian dropped a game-tying bomb against CL Mason Miller. In the 10th, after Tommy Tanks advanced DeLatuer on a ground out, C Drew Romo scored him with a walk-off hit to win the game for the Shires.

Before this game, Guadalajara had won all 4 games against the Shires.

Gray and Harrington battled back and forth as the teams exchanged leads remaining 2-2 until the 8th when the teams would gain and lose the lead once again, remaining tied 3-3 into the 11th, when 3B Christian Moore took CL Mason Miller deep for the 2nd game in a row, giving the Shires the walk-off win.

Christian Moore is making his case for being the team's most valuable position player, and contending for the team triple crown.

SP Ty Johnson struggled in and out of jams, allowing 4 runs over 5.1 IP as his 2nd half decline continues. The starting rotation decline has coincided with a rise in bullpen production, as new effective options emerge during Hoffman's injury (hamstring strain, uncertain return date).

Kyle Amendt, a rule 5 pick, has emerged as a solid bullpen piece for the Shires. He's presently on an 18-game hot streak, where he has put up a 1.08 ERA over his last 25 IP.

Logan Webb began his start by allowing a double, single, and 3-Run HR to Butler.

The good news is that Webb would settle in and pitch 6 scoreless innings after the 3-run 1st inning.

The bad news is that the 3 1st inning runs was more than enough to secure the San Antonio victory as the Shires offense could only muster 1 run on 7 hits, losing back to back games.

The Shires will have their 2 CYA candidates, Ohtani and Aldegheri, pitching the next 2 games as StL looks to win the series and preserve their division lead ... 1.5 games up on Windy City.

StL and Ohtani received some early runs support, 2 runs on run scoring hits by Brace and Barrosa. The Shires scored 3 more runs in the 4th, before Ohtani allowed SA's 1st run, StL leading 5-1. StL scored 2 more runs in the 7th on a 2-Run HR by UT Meidroth (filling in for injured Matt McLain), as Ohtani allowed his 2nd run in the bottom of the 7th, before Ryan Reich came on to finish the game with 2.2 scoreless innings.

Struggling StL, 18-23 since All-Star break, remains in 1st place, 1 1/2 games in front of Windy City.

Ohtani is making a strong case for the 2029 CYA, despite not entering the rotation until mid-May.

He is presently ...

1st in ERA, 2nd in Wins, 2nd in fWAR, 1st in WHIP, 2nd in FIP, 1st in ERA+, 1st in rWAR, 3rd in AVG against, and 2nd in WinPct.

Negotiating a contract with Ohtani and he won't budge from asking for mid 60s AAV. He "may" be worth it, but I don;t think I can afford 64M/y for 1 player, particularly given his production as a DH while also pitching. In April and mid-May, his offense was outstanding as a DH only, but has since declined significantly with being a 2-way player.

I'll hit him with the QO, and see how the action is in the offseason. He may be around late in the signing period, and possibly could be resigned for a similar deal that I signed him with initially, 35-40M/y, if no other team can afford his demands or is willing to meet them.

Rookie Ryan Reich has emerged as a solid bullpen piece and may be positioning himself to compete, along with fellow rookie Keifer Lord, for a back end rotation spot next season. Given his work ethic, high IQ and room to grow, he seems like a prime candidate for the development lab in the offseason.

SP Sam Aldegheri's pursuit of the 2029 CYA took a step backwards as he allowed the leadoff to reach base in each of his innings, including 2 leadoff triples and a leadoff double, leading to 4 RA in 5.1 IP. The Stallions put the game away when Whitlock allowed a 3-Run job in the 8th.

Christian Moore kept his bat hot with a 2-run double in the 3-run 7th.

With the StL loss at SA, and an off day combined with a Windy City victory over Phoenix, the Whitetails pull into a 1st place tie with St Louis. The two teams appear to be heading in opposite directions with 35 games left to play.

As if the on field struggles are not enough for the Shires, the injuries are piling up. Hoffman, possibly the Shires most effective reliever, is still uncertain for a return date, as is starting 2B Matt McLain (boy, that was a bad trade, huh?). Barrosa, the team's 4th OF turned starting LF is now injured as is UT IF Garces. With limited options in 3A, the team has explored other options to try and get through the next 2 weeks.

The team recalls Beltre to fill the starting LF position. I like this kid, looks like he has .270 20 HR potential, if he just produce close to that, we'll be happy.

StL promotes Arias to serve as the team's 4th OF.

StL executes a waiver claim on veteran Marcell Ozuna.

The team also offers a 1y contract (rest of season) to Gleyber Torres to fill in for injured McLain and Garces.

This team may be in real trouble, in regards to winning the division .... the team's only hope in reaching the postseason.

The Shires jumped out to a big lead in the 1st with a 5-run outburst, highlighted by a 3-R opposite field HR by newly recalled Eduardo Beltre.

StL kept the 5-1 lead until the 6th inning when Gray and the defense would fall apart leading to 5 UE runs. The Shires used 5 relievers to combine for 3.1 shutout innings.

After StL lost the lead in the 6th, they regained it in the bottom half of the inning, with some help from Golden Gate. Adams struggled in relief allowing 4 walks and a game-tying single to Nunez, before issuing a walk to load the bases, and then walking Meidroth to put the go ahead run on the board.

Wisely and the Oklahoma Outlaws walk it off against Windy City, combined with the Shires win and StL holds 1st place over the Whitetails.

StL suffers another key injury, this time to RP Amendt, joining setup man Hoffman on the IL.

StL promotes reliever Nick Sutter to the team, to replace Amendt. Sutter may not be ready for NABO action just yet, but here he is.

Rookie Keifer Lord picked up the 3 inning save despite loading the bases in the 9th. He got 2 pop ups before inducing Schwarber to gound out to 1B to end the game.

StL jumped out in the 1st inning, led by a run scoring triple by Brace (scored on a SF by Tommy Tanks). Brace later added a monster HR down the LF line, and recently recalled Eduardo Beltre kept his momentum going with 3 hits, just a double short of the cycle.

Windy City pulls out a 1-run win over OKL to stay a game back of the Shires.

Torres agrees to a short deal, and will back up Meidroth at 2B (filling in for injured McLain, as Meidroth will continue to backup at SS/3B when not starting at 2B.

StL put up consistent scoring throughout the game as Logan Webb delivered one of his best starts of the season, StL completes the sweep over the visiting Golden Gate Guardians.

Roman Anthony nearly hit for the cycle, instead of the needed single, he walked to go with his 3 extra base hits. Christian Moore added his 20th HR and 67th RBI (leading the team in both stats), while Pete Brace put together a 3-3 game, boosting his production to .277-17-65, as a ROY candidate.

Oklahoma takes down Windy City again, sending the Whitetails to games back of the 1st place Shires.

Anthony jumped out to a good start and he and Ohtani served as a dynamic duo, getting StL off to a great start. Then Anthony, like Ohtani fell off drastically in May and June, but as the weather started heating up .... so did Anthony, producing at high levels since July.
