Busch switched to astroturf in 1970/1971 but they still kept the dirt infield- similar to the three rivers that Silvam provided a couple of weeks ago. It was only in 76 or 78 that Busch switched to full astroturf infield with sliding pits. The strangest of them all was Comiskey from 69-76 -Silvam also did this version- they had an astroturf infield while still maintaining a grass outfield! |

Can't wait to see it. Is there a way you could also create an astroturf version of the early 70's with the dirt infield described above. The wall colors were the same, the difference was the astroturf.
Thanks a lot ST LOU 1 |

How about this mock-up?
What a pre-47 Fenway park could look like. I included most of the elements. Two of the adverts came from that cool baseball scoreboard site on flickr. I couldn't decide on which cities service sign was more accurate... I also typed some bogus stuff at the base of the wall because I've seen stuff like that on other pre-47 fenway pics. |

Updated it... this is just a design study, which is far more easier to do than actually make the actual 3D model. I included all the elements.

Great job! I'll see if I can find a picture for the background with that building, or similar, behind the right field wall.

Looks to me like pre-47 fenway had more of a hunter green look, so I changed it

Based on the photos, it looks to me like the stands have more white in them than anything else.

Wow, that was fast. Loved how you added the mesh screen behind the right field bleachers. Also, I see you went with Gulf instead of Cities Service... Interesting.
And... NO LIGHTS! Nice touch! Totally missed that one. Plus, you tweaked the Fenway green too! NICE! Were any of the other elements I attached helpful? Hope so. Last edited by drksd4848; 09-22-2016 at 11:23 AM. |

I would imagine a pre-yawkey Fenway would be a pain to do.You'd probably have to build an entire model from scratch. Plus, trying to find pics... ugh. Last edited by drksd4848; 09-22-2016 at 12:43 PM. |

One more thing... this may neither be here nor there, but I'd figure I'd stick it up here.
I've always wondered about the various shades of Fenway Green thought the years. Check this out: Fenway green definitely NOT always "Fenway Green". Even though this is black and white, you can clearly see the different shade while they were replacing the old wall with the new wall. This was prior to the '76 season. Notice the Buck Printing Co is still up. I wonder when they took it down? Anyway, figured I'd share... |
