The New York Postponements are metsed again!

Wicked: there is no AL team with fewer wins than the Mets (and only four in the NL), but we're firmly in first place in the wretched NL East.

New report about Mets' 'toxic workplace' details how complaints of inappropriate conduct were ignored

Quote:
Here are parts of what was reported by Katie Strang and Brittany Ghiroli:
  • Former executive producer for content and marketing, Joe DeVito, was accused of sexual harassments by multiple women. He texted at least one employee, saying, "I've barely even hit on you. So that counts for something."
  • Former hitting performance coordinator, Ryan Ellis, is alleged to have made "aggressive sexual comments" and sending "persistent suggestive text messages."
  • Seven employees, male and female, told The Athletic that David Newman, chief marketing, content and communications officer, made inappropriate remarks to female employees. Regarding Newman, one woman who was interviewing with the Mets, said she was told the following: "He's an asshole who is terrible to work for, but he can get you where you need to go."
  • Former employees said their complaints were ignored when reported to the team's human resources department. "You could not go to HR to feel protected, comfortable, anything," a former employee said.

Boom-Boom Diaz at Mountaintop Park with a 1-run lead in the bottom 9th on back-to-back days is ballsy.

Worked though. Still in first place, 7-4 with umpteen no-shows.

"How long since you saw a Mets game end on a catcher throwing someone out?"- Ron Darling

"You can do that?"- Tomas Nido, Wilson Ramos, Travis d'Arnaud, Kevin Plawecki, Josh Thole, Choo Coleman

That was sweet, and I also can't remember the last time I saw someone shut down the purple team in the mountains like that.

That's what I was thinking, the Mets getting the 27th out on a well-executed defensive play is a very un-Mets way to win.

...which is why I was 98.3% sure the call would be overturned.

Also, very Metsy to go to Stratosphere Field and score all of eight runs over a compressed weekend.

Yeah, this isn't your dad's Colorado Field and these aren't Larry Walker's Rockies. I've never seen them playing small ball/pitching and defense before. It's interesting, but fortunately the Mets don't have to go back this year!

Sometimes I'm glad I'm six time zones away from Citi - seven from Chicago! - and don't have to watch each and every rancid **** game they play. For example, for this night's 16-4 wobbling the feckless Mets got handed by the "offensively struggling" Cubs, I am very fond of just having to glance over the box score, see incompetence abundant, and can come here to write a few grumpy lines before brushing it off.

Definitely not playoff material. But if you were realistic you knew that before the season.

I really cannot emphasize enough that you should watch the Cubs' big innings. You'll think you are watching the Portland Raccoons. It's impressive in its Metsiness.

I couldn't help thinking all through that game: if only the NL had the DH we could be thrilling to 4 AB from Kevin Pillar! Wait, yes I could.

Also, I have bad news for you but I am old and can tell you that you will never see "more of that", unless maybe Jake has something else up his sleeve for a future start. There just aren't people that throw 101 mph fastballs and 90 mph changeups exactly where they want for two and a half hours. Never mind batting for themselves in the 8th inning
