How do you handle Jake in OOTP? The engine has him decline sharply (not unreasonable considering he is 32) but like... dude is increasing velocity still.

Oh, I'm not playing the live Mets in OOTP. I haven't played a single game in the new one. I play the Raccoons in OOTP 16 and the 1962+ Mets (now in 1963) in OOTP 21.

Meanwhile, this game today is the punishment for all the fun and frolicking we had yesterday...

This is why I'm not a fan of Stroman - pitch to contact guys are gonna get raked like this on occasion. If there truly is a choice upcoming, I'd extend Thor.

What's even more frustrating is Perfect Team where he's dog**** most days but some 21 year old whose never thrown a single pitch above AA is a Future Star and has better ratings.

Win!

The shutout wasn't exactly deserved, but both teams ran the bases equally badly.

At least I could yell "PEEEEEEEEETE!!" again!

DeGrom, and the stat of the year to this point...

29 innings pitched, with a total of 13 hits given up, and ... six hits as a batter.

Edit to add...for the season, he's given up one earned run, and has two RBI.

If only it could last forever!

Side note: he did give up a homer in Coors Field that was unearned because of a previous error.

Please score a run. Please.

Too much to ask for when deGrom is pitching. :|

The Mets lineup radiates so little energy, it sapped all the juice out of me, too. All I can do the rest of the day is lie in the corner, face down, and wait for the ants to carry me away.

You know, like the Mets lineup…

Unrelated ... I really hoped for Jerry Blevins to make the team, although from his pitching in spring training it was evident that he likely wouldn’t. The bite was missing. Sad to see the guy retired.

Poor De Grom, will demand a trade at some point? Could he win the CYA with less than 10 W's ?

I strongly prefer that they win games due to bad umpiring than the opposite, but I would much rather that they play games with good umpires. The crew during the WSN series when Jake struck out 15 was great. Before that it was the Country Joe West Traveling Medicine Show and Argument Clinic. This outfit has embarrassed themselves two nights in a row. Did a lot of umps opt out for COVID or retire over the last year?

I am very glad the Mets won the Sunday game. I am not so glad to having to listen to Matt Vasgersian scream stupidly for four hours, but I am very glad it was at least an 8-7 win ... after Boom-Boom Diaz did his darndest to turn it into an 11-inning, 11-10 loss.

The Phillies played such bad defense, they should have been charged an extra three runs just for general incompetence. What the heck is wrong with McCutchen? He dorked two comfortable catches in this series.

Not getting into Lindor. He has sucked his batting average to half his $341m contract, and I hope he is dropped in the batting order now.

To Syracuse, that is.

I don't know if he's getting worse or I'm just getting sick of him, but I can't stand him any more, and the pairing with A-Rod is just turrible.

I'm pretty sure the scorecards come from the printer with blank lines, I don't know why the Mets seem so reluctant to just move somebody down when he's struggling (or up when he's hot).

I'm the first to admit that I am pretty inflexible with my batting order. The Coons tend to have Cleanup Guy, who bats cleanup, no matter what. The #4 hole is what their lineups tend to revolve around. It's Manny Fernandez right now. When Manny Fernandez needs a day off, I get confused. (Edit: not even kidding, it's July 27 in the game, and the last time Manny batted something other than #4 was on May 17 (#3), excluding rest days. )

But then again, the Raccoons' GM only has all the voices in my head for advice, the Mets were supposed to have an actual braintrust of actual human brains for statisticalities.

Haven't seen much baseball this season but I caught last night's game. Watching Lindor swing... ... It was like that time an ESPN guy made an on-air bet that he could get a hit off of a scrub MLB pitcher. When they filmed him trying it was only marginally worse than some of L's swings.

If you can, though, check out Villar's K in the sixth. That was the worst non-pitcher at-bat I have ever seen.

Pete also had a bad night until the bases-clearing double. 1-for-5 is fine if it comes with 3 RBI ... Lindor doesn't have to do A LOT to pacify some people. But maybe slow the bleed that is ... what now? 0-for-his-last-21???

Ha, I have all kinds of sentimental idiosyncrasies but not that one... for all the nonsense "personality" ratings players get I think being surly over position in batting order is underrated. I never pay any attention to that "expected role" thing, I suppose it makes some of the bench players play worse than they might but I figure it is offset by playing better players in the lineup.

Francisco Lindor makes Nick Lando look like a competent major league hitter. (another Coons in-joke, but I can't remember a Met of recent vintage that has sucked so hard for so much dosh; actually, Lando makes the minimum, so that's not even a correct comparison)
