Draft Pool
NABL News: Draft Pool Revealed

Thursday, September 12th, 1957
For would-be rookies, a list of whom was announced today by the league, the wait to find out whether or not they have been selected is excruciating. It's tough just getting a scout to notice you, to think you are worth investing an organization's future in. Then draft day arrives and you are snatched up by someone you might not have expected. Some will catch on big; others will be away from home for the first time and will struggle to gain a solid footing in the minors. Still others will battle through, gain that coveted footing and go on to have a solid professional career.

The top players available (in no particular order) seem to be:
1. Gary Geiger, 20 year-old center fielder out of college.
2. Bill Monbouquette, 21 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
3. Dick Stuart, 24 year-old first baseman out of college.
4. Ron Fairly, 19 year-old right fielder out of high-school.
5. Bob Allison, 23 year-old center fielder out of college.
6. Vada Pinson, 19 year-old center fielder out of high-school.
7. Jim O'Toole, 20 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
8. John Romano, 23 year-old catcher out of college.
9. Leon Wagner, 23 year-old left fielder out of college.
10. Orlando Cepeda, 19 year-old first baseman out of high-school.
