StL was feeling confident in the Wildcard Round against the Mile High Mammoths as the Shires swept them in their only meeting during the 2029 season.

Masyn Winn hit a solo HR off Ohtani in the 1st inning and the pregame good feeling was completely gone during the 2nd inning. Ryan McMahon led off with a double and Jones drove him in with a 2R HR. Ohtani then walked Culpepper and Wade Jr singled after the free pass. Malcolm Moore then hit a 437-ft 3R HR to dead center, giving Mile High a 6-0 lead.

StL brought in RP Ryan Riech and things didn't get any better. After a walk and a single Jorge Burgos dropped the 2nd 3R HR of the inning, giving his team a 9-0 lead. Mile High would add 4 more runs in the 3rd, going ip 13-0 against host StL.

StL would fight back somewhat with 5 runs in the 8th, highlighted by an inside the park grand slam by Pete Brace. MH scored 5 more in the 9th and StL countered with 4 runs in the frame, resulting in a football score of 19-11 in favor of the Mammoths.

Simon Juan got MH on the board first with a solo HR in the 2nd, the Mammoths 6th HR in just 10 innings of wildcard play. StL tried to respond in the bottom half of the inning as Barossa singled to center and stole 2nd base. Pete Brace then lined a single to left center, but Barossa was thrown out at the plate. The inning and threat ended at 2nd base when Brace was caught stealing.

In the 3rd, Malcolm Moore singled and Marsee reached on an E3 on a likely inning ending DP ball to Brace. Culpepper singed home Moore as Marsee was thrown out at 3rd for what should have been the 3rd out of the inning. Masyn Winn capitalized on the extra opportunity with a 2R HR, botting MH's lead to 4-0.

Christian Moore got StL in the runs column with a solo shot in the 4th. In the 7th StL C Drew Romo led off with a single, and McLain hit into a DP. With momentum draining, Barossa walked and stole 2nd base, and Pete Brace drove him in with a double down the left field line to make the score 4-2 Mammoths. Nasim Nunez singled home Brace to make it a 1-run game.

In the top of the 9th, Hentges allowed runners on 1st and 3rd with a walk and a single, turning the ball over to Whitlock who induced a weak fly out to RF to end the inning. In the 9th, McLain hit a 1-out single and stole 2nd base. Barossa singled to put runners on the corners with just 1 out. Brace hit a SF to RF to tie the game and bring his RBI total to 6 in just 2 wildcard games.

In the bottom of the 10th, Nunez led off with a single and stole 2nd base, putting the winning run in scoring position for PH Tommy white, who singled, putting runners on the corners. Chase DeLatuer drove a line drive to left center to drive in the go ahead and winning run, as StL evened up the series 1-1.

Jorge Burgos adds 4 more hits, 2 more home runs, and 3 more RBI to his already impressive series as Mile High easily down St Louis to take a 2-1 series lead.

I don't want to talk about it further.

Top of 3rd - Brace led off with a groundball single through the hole and Barossa followed with an infield single, beating the 1B to the bag. Roman Anthony blooped a single over the 2nd baseman's head to score Brace, StL 1-0. DeLatuer hit a groundball to SS and reached on a FC as the runner was gunned down at the plate. Christian Moore walked to load the bases and Ohtani struck out and Romo flew out harmlessly to center. All that action and the Shires walk away with a lone run.

Top of 4th - Barossa walked with 1 out, and stole 2nd base. Nunez singled home Barossa for a 2-0 StL lead. Anthony singled to CF, and Nunez was held up at 3rd, but Anthony was thrown out trying to advance to 2B on the cutoff throw.

Bot of 4th - Masyn Winn earned a leadoff walk and McMahon singled to advance Winn to 3rd. Nolan Jones hit a SF to RF, drawing MH to within a run, score 2-1 StL.

Bot of 5th - Malcolm Moore hit a 1 out double down the left field line. Marsee singled over the SS head, scoring Moore and tying the game 2-2.

Top of 6th - Romo got a leadoff single on a grounder to RF, and after a McLain strikeout, Barossa doubled to left center, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Brace and Nunez grounded out without advancing the runners and StL squandered a great opportunity to take the lead.

Bot of 6th - Looking to take advantage of StL's failure to score, Burgos led off with a double, and Jones followed up with his own double, to right center, scoring Burgos and giving Mile High a 3-2 lead, and the eventual final score as MH goes up 3-1 in the series against the Shires.

After getting blown out of the water in G1, Ohtani looked to redeem himself in G5 ... but was not sharp, as the Shires could only manage a single run as they exited the 2029 playoffs with a wimper.

The story of the 2029 postseason is really a story about the wildcard Jacksonville Jamboree. The 94-68 regular season squad took down the 94 win champions of the Plymouth Rock Division, Baltimore Bombers, in 6 games. Then they eliminated the 100 Ohio Otters in 5 games, and followed that up by defeating the 100-win and Eastern favorite, Carolina Crawfish in 5 games, before winning an exciting game 7 in San Diego to become the '29 NABO world champions.
