Giuseppe "Bepi" Ros

I just can't find a decent pic of this guy. A couple of weeks ago, I posted a pic that I cropped from a poster. This one is from The Ring Boxing Encyclopedia 1976 and is an excellent pose. The only problem was that it was too dark (same pic was in the 1977 enclyclopedia--just as dark). Old Bepi looked like the Werewolf of Rome. I fooled around with it for about an hour and gave up on any further improvement. It's better than nothing--just barely better than nothing!!!

Pekka Kokkonen?---I need help!

I've been trying to find a picture of Pekka Kokkonen, the Finnish ligh heavy from the 1960s. My collections of 1960s The Ring and Boxing Illustrated are somewhat extensive--but not complete (with my luck his picture is in an issue that I don't have).

All I came up after a mind-numbing search of the 'Net is the attached. It had no caption and whatever was printed was in Finnish and not subject to the translation option with Google.

I do know that for a period of time he sparred in Ingo's training camp in preparation for the Patterson fight. Also, he held a position in the EBU.

Obviously, Ingo is in the center. Are either of the other two Pekka Kokkonen?

Tosti, thanks again for posting this. I cropped for full upper body to show off Bepi's impressive waistline--lol.

Yours is a better cropping--I just wanted to show Bepi's general problem with conditioning--I've got to find an account of one of his fights with Dante Cane. It wasn't exactly Ali-Frazier. Both were, according to the ring observer, grossly out of shape.

If this Agustin Senin is the same as Agustin Senin Diez(who was on the Spanish Olympic boxing committee) then he was born 1946-09-04. I'm about 90% that they are the same-both born in Bilbao.
