I read there is a file you have to delete to get the new storylines.

There is, delete the storyline.dat in your saved game folder and the game will load the storyline.xml file instead that way you can always get the latest storylines

Outsider, is this insider knowledge? What new storyline.xml file are you talking about, one with the latest patch? Or one that's been/being modded privately?

Good lord, I hope you're mistaken. I've stopped playing in the hopes that it gets addressed -- three amateurs in a row all wanted major league contracts, so I saved my game and quit playing until a patch.

Someone in another thread said something about promising to "look at this issue," so I took it to mean that someone in the dev team was going to perform a quick fix.

This is almost a game-breaker for me

While I certainly appreciate that the international signings could be handled better, I think it's quite the hyperbole to say it's almost a game-breaking issue.

I've also noticed that the AI signs these guys and immediately waives them down to the minors, and although I haven't claimed any of them I imagine I could claim all of them.
