I voted no because in a finite amount of time to work on the game, I want the priority to be on how the AI works on making roster decisions.

No matter what way you play (historical, modern MLB, fictional, god-mode, game by game, GM only, or any combination), the AI's roster decisions are what we interact with the most. And while it's amazing how good OOTP's AI is--it's still got a lot of things it does wrong.

Everything else should take a back seat to this. And if that's the choice as presented in the poll, it's going to be "no" every time for me.

A tantalizing comment. I wonder . . .

Plus, the post was edited! What did he say before he did so?

Did he prematurely reveal something so mammoth in impact that his safety would have been compromised, so he hastily reacted, retracted, and redacted??

I would presume so. However, is the additional amount of work to have your proposal allow for a best-of series (either of predetermined length or user selected) really that much greater than having only a single game?

, no big conspiracy or premature reveal, I just added the au contraire part because I thought it sounded better! I'm an inveterate editor of my already posted content.

I saw it. He said something about aliens and it being an inside job.

Would they do that with the MLB license? They use the C logo for Cleveland vs the actual logo for that season. Would the real uniform end up getting changed also?

Per our PM conversation, I think I need to clarify this.

Example:

Let's say it's 2024. I have a player who had a 30-game hitting streak in 2020. I see hitting streaks of 25, 22, and 18 by 3 other players on the League Leaderboard for the American League (where my team plays). My player proceeds to go on a 24-game hitting streak.

While his streak is active, it will appear on the leaderboard, from game 18 or 19 (not sure how tiebreakers work here) until game 24. As soon as his streak is over, though, it disappears from the leaderboard. Somehow, his 30-game streak makes the game forget his 24-game streak for in-season purposes.

It has been noted in previous versions that this only happens if the player has a longer streak somewhere in his personal history, but I see no reason for that to wipe away his in-season streak from the in-season hitting streak leaderboard. If the 24-game streak was his career best, it would remain on the leaderboard.

Known issue, almost impossible to fix with a decent amount of work. Hence it's what it is for several years now and will likely continue to.

Understood. It's comforting to know that it is known, understood, and merited such analysis even if it won't be fixed in the near term. I'd hardly call it a critical need worth dumping major effort into.

I can dig it. Although, apropos to the poll, I'd also like to see the trade AI tweaked a bit as well.

Can we have both?

Allow the exhibition to be set up as a best-of-7 series. This would harken back to the old days when some of the major league clubs would play "city series" after the conclusion of the regular season (the Cubs and White Sox played post-regular season city series for many years).
Mainly cause that was the only post season action either team saw for years.

Also, I think this thread proves that we need some pictures to look at to keep us from fight each other.

Heh, I'm sure that contributed. But other clubs also staged post-season exhibition series. (In-season exhibition games were once quite frequent as well; these were, naturally, only a single game against a given opponent.)
