Who gets pre-61 Senators? And don't tell me it's the Twins!

Because that's sacrilege!!!!

That's because my plan is to create a team and get a perfect Walter Johnson in my starting packs. And it's definitely going to work. Because of positive thinking.

Oh also, are these teams F2P? I saw a post about the "point limit" but it would be nice to see a consolidated list of the rules being followed (or if there's a post I missed that summarizes things, please feel free to point it out).
Washington Senators cards are kind of tricky, since *technically* the Walter Johnson one came from the Senators team that became the Twins, so if there are any Washington Senators cards from 1961-71, which marked the technical beginning of the Rangers' history, then yes, those particular ones would be included.

These teams are by no means F2P, either. There is a point limit for active rosters so as to keep competitive balance, while also making it advantageous to collect as many of one particular team/franchise as possible. The specific rules can be found on the first page of the thread, the ninth post: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...26&postcount=9

If you're still interested, great! Go ahead and post the PT username of the team in the thread!

Umm, of course!

Who got all the players and who owned the team? Cal Griffith who has blood back to Clark.

There is no question whatsoever the direct connection all the way back. Denying it would be like saying the LA Dodgers are not related to Brooklyn. Sorry, that's the facts.

There really isn't anything technical about it. The Giants moved to LA, so did the Dodgers. The Senators moved to Minnesota. It's clear to me , the team is CLEARLY linked back to it's history as a franchise. How would this even be a dicsussion?

Ok, all you fancy book-learning guys have proved your point. It still makes me sad though, that I would have to give up my Walter Johnson card!

But I guess that means my backup plan is to pull a Nolan Ryan out of my starter packs.... yeah, that'll do it as a backup plan.

So I will take the Rangers, but I am not going to create the team until tomorrow, since I will need some time (i.e., the week in Entry Pool) to assemble the right cards. And I have go go get a new email account and register a new account with OOTP. So I will post all the details tomorrow after I get home from work and get it all set up, if that's ok with you.

Sorry man, wasn't trying to exclude the Big Train on you. It's just that there is no possible justification to the Rangers of the 70's who were essentially an expansion team in 1961 to have any lineage to earlier times.

No worries, man. I wasn't trying to bring you down with the Walter stuff. And that's fine about waiting til tomorrow. In fact, I recommend doing that, since you'll at least get a full week in the Entry Pool.

Welcome aboard!

I have 7 on my All-Senators/Browns/Expos team, and I believe I have them all. The highest rated card is Frank Howard at 78 OVR. 3B Aurelio Rodriguez would easily be your best IF defender if he was allowed a spot on the roster (2B Bump Wills and 3B Buddy Bell are the closest competitors, I believe. Seriously, the Senators/Rangers have poop for defense at SS)

One random defense for Walter finding his way onto a Rangers team is that there is no way to differentiate between WS1 and WS2 when you filter teams in your collection. The game treats them as one and the same.

I'm just joking around with the cards at this point, no hard feelings for anybody. It makes sense that the Rangers only include 61 to 71 Senators cards.

I was playing around earlier and it seems the Auction House lets you search for these cards by searching for WS2.

I've seen a few Frank Howards go through the AH. And I did see an Aurelio Rodriguez today. I also have Ed Brinkman on one of my teams, he's got decent defense at SS (well, he's an 82), though in the tradition of the times he can't hit his way out of a paper bag.

I believe I'm all set up... waiting to go into the Entry Pool right now.

Username: Charlatan3
Team: Texas Rangers

P.S., I did get a grand total of ONE Texas/Washington player for my initial roster. Some guy rated 48 OVR. But my first purchase with the team was Frank Howard, so that's a start!

Got you added! Be sure to add everyone else in the list!

Also, pretty lucky you got that 48 OVR for your team! Those things are expensive on the market because of their rarity. Well done, and a nice start!

How are we going to all get to the same level? I kind of thought everyone would hang out in Iron until it got going. Not sure how this can work...

Yeah, that was an oversight on my part. I had the thought to do this much earlier back in 19, but I didn't really put it into motion until 20 got started. If I knew it would take this long, I would've sent out this thread much earlier. I now know that if I choose to go about this project next year, then I know what I'd need to do to make this work better.

I'm not giving up hope on this year's edition yet; it's still early.

Here's a mini-update: The Texas Rangers are shaping up well in the Entry Pool, only a couple of roster slots left to fill. I will, of course, be in Iron next week.

Also, HiDesertAce, I went through your friends list posted above and there was one name on mine that I didn't see - OAKKATE managing the Oakland Unathletics. I also added the couple of people who have joined this week.

What about a Milwaukee Braves/Brewers team? I realize the Braves went to Atlanta and the Brewers came from Seattle, but I'm a Milwaukee guy.

I have a diamond Aaron Milwaukee Brave, a Yount, and future legend Hiura on one of my teams (my Bees, NOT my Milwaukee Brave team, ironically).

Would take a LOT of work to retool it to an all Milwaukee lineup though, but I'm curious...
