A stunning debut for our newbie
Even the bats decided to show up and help out. The 22 runs scored in the past two games is the same as we had scored in the 8 prior to that. Hopefully things are looking up.

You can call me Al
Al has been serviceable, hitting 250 since coming across, but he'd only hit one more dinger since his unbelievable first few games with us. Until today that is, when he literally carried the offence in a tight win at Louisville.
![]() Meanwhile Cleveland's Joe Charbonneau continues his bid for the LA MVP with another big game, although he can't get his Buckeyes the win. Joe now leads the LA in homers by a fair margin and his 89 ribbies are second only to Keokuk 1B Richie Sexson's 91. Mark Teixeira currently leads the KA in both categories with 28 and 104.

Our Ed the first to 20 wins
Joe Daly - super handy for us this year with a 324/354/404 slash, 40 RBI from the leadoff spot and 3.2 WAR - was just a trip from hitting for the cycle in a great performance to help Karger get his milestone win.

CAG News - 1 September, 1947
This bunch of gamers we have put together a strong 18-7 August and currently sits in a tie for the second WC in the LA. It is a very crowded field, however, so we'll need to keep winning to have a shot at playoff action. Rosters have just expanded so a few of those yet to see action will get their chance to strut their stuff and prove they somehow figure into our long-term plans.
The King Association still has all three Band races alive as well, so it looks like an exciting time down the stretch in the inaugural AtHoL season. ![]() ![]() Our stats to this point: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Awards and news. ![]() ![]() Back at the end of the reg with a full recap / playoffs preview, with some updates in-between. |

News from Around the Horn
Still a bunch of possible permutations as we enter the final week of the 1947 regular season. Here's a quick rundown.
Lincoln Association Toronto and Cincinnati have booked their spots in the playoffs as Champions of the Posey and Catto Bands, respectively, with the Maple Leafs looking almost guaranteed of the #1 seed. The Walker Band is a real dogfight, with Jacksonville, Kansas City and Temple all still in with a chance. J-ville and KC are in the middle of what is a key head-to-head series that may well decide things. ![]() Keokuk is on the verge of taking the first WC slot, with its MN down to 2. My CAG looked to be in control of the other one, but a 2-9 stretch put paid to that and now we have a real uphill battle, with our final series against Toronto. 6 teams still have a chance to see post-season action. ![]() King Association The Wilkinson Band is still a red-hot go, with Brooklyn and New York tied and just 2 ahead of Rochester. The Cubans-Red Wings series to close things out looms large. Only the team who prevails here will advance. ![]() Norfolk has locked down the Rickey Band, with Wilmington also moving on via the second WC. In the Chandler, both Pittsburgh and Taunton are locked and loaded for the playoffs, but the Band title is still up for grabs. Their series currently in progress may well sort this out sooner rather than later. ![]() Awards, news and leaders - back for a full recap and playoff preview soon. ![]() ![]() ![]()

You'd think...
... 166 games would be enough. Apparently not:
![]() Which means the Cubans and Tip-Tops now have to play a tiebreak game to decide the Wilkinson Band champion, with the loser eliminated entirely. By dint of their 5-3 H2H advantage in the regular season, this game is played in NY. ![]() Which means the playoffs will look like this:
