OTOH, Oklahoma State lost by 31 points. So perhaps Mike Gundy wasn't the problem, after all?

And as far as firing coaches go, today's face-plant in the Swamp drops Steve Sarkisian's record in one-score games at Texas to…9-15. How does he still have a job, exactly?

Connor Griffin is REALLY UPSET about Penn State's loss…but he's the most-composed version of Pissed-Off College Fan that I've ever seen. I mean, he's so angry that he's red in the face…but his voice barely rises. Interesting dichotomy.

OTOH, Jarrod Johnson is not taking the Texas loss well. Remember, Texas was ranked #1 in the preseason. They were supposed to win the SEC. They were supposed to win the National Championsip. The dweeby kid doing the Warby Parker ads was supposed to win the Heisman.

Instead, Texas has yet to beat a P4 school this year. Oops?

Don't worry. Texas isn't known for patience. One of their x coaches said a dream season for the Horns is to win the SWC, beat the Sooners, go unbeaten, win the Cotton, win the NC & fire the HC.

Thoughts after week 6..........

...The top 2 teams of the preseason rankings, Texas & Penn St, are both no longer in the top 25. Longhorn fans are not known for being forgiving. Penn St fans have been more than forgiving. Franklin cannot get the Lions out of "honorable mention" purgatory. They beat up on no names & non contenders. But fail when the national spotlight is on them. He has been dodging disgruntled grumblings in the past. But this time, I don't believe he can keep his detractors at bay.

This UCLA loss is as bad as it gets. The Bruins looked to be maybe the worst Power 4 conference team this year (my Tar Heels have apparently accepted that "challenge"). And UCLA made PSU look like paper lions at the jump. UCLA scored only 57 pts total vs Utah, UNLV, New Mexico & Northwestern. Then put 42 on the preseason #2. PSU may have been overrated, but UCLA definitely wasn't underrated. State College is going to become the hottest job this offseason..............

.........I'm not saying Miami(FL) is the nation's best. Far from it. They continue to fail to cut the jugular when the opportunity arises. But nevertheless, no other school has a better resume than they do. Five wins vs the Irish, FSU, Florida & S.Florida. Ohio St hasn't beaten anyone currently ranked thought their D seems more than legit. Neither has Oregon gotten a scalp from anyone currently ranked. Canes, as it stands now, should be #1............

.........Again, who is the Heisman frontrunner?............

.......I hate NC State. So I'm hesitant to say anything positive about the wolfpecks. But they have a top 5 passer (CJ Bailey),a top 5 rusher (Hollywood Smothers) and a top 5 tackler (Caden Fordham)........

.......UConn has someone in the top 10 in pass yds (Joe Fagnano), top 5 in rush yds (Cam Edwards) & #1 in receptions (Skyler Bell)........

.........Toledo is the only MAC team currently above .500 @ 3-2...........

.......15 teams left unbeaten (11 in a Power 4 conference) & only 3 who have yet to win (Sam Houston, Oregon St & Massachusetts)............

.......Media loves getting their digs @ Belichek now that he is losing. And losing big. As a Belichek "hater" & one who didn't want him in the 1st place, I have no idea why anyone expected him to turn this program around quickly. Tar Heels were getting mediocre results when the talent was good. Now there is just about no one on the team who could start for a ranked program. Why would anyone expect wins? I thought 4 W's was the ceiling coming in. If BB was a true genius, maybe he'd get them to 6 or 7. If he found magic & the ACC dumpster fire continued to burn, the landscape might allow for 9 wins. But that was if all things broke right. This team has no chemistry. It is a patchwork roster. I think it would be foolish to pull the trigger on this experiment when you are getting what you should have expected. This is a problem that will only fix with time. You should have known that from the get go..........

.........Who thought the Red River Rivalry would have the Sooners in the top 5 & Texas unranked?.............

....Who would ever picture Indiana @ Oregon as a top 10 Big T1e8n clash?.......

........Stanford @ SMU is an ACC game........*shudder*............

.......Mizzo gets their first test, hosting Bama.............

.........What happened to Chris Leak?..........

......I wonder if even the teams in Conference USA know who are in their league................

.....Wondering how long Deion can keep coaching..................

......Anybody see UNLV remain undefeated after beating Wyoming on a field of hail?........

.......One last thing on Texas.....Why is Archie Manning leading the team in rushing? They have a RB by committee right now. Among their RB's no one has more than 36, but their 5th one in carries has 24. Those 5 backs have combined for 588 yds @ 4.2 yds per clip. Maybe no one has stood out. But I think they need to pick 2 and give them 25-30 carries a game. Give him a running game to build off of & take off the pressure. It's like they were trying to manufacture a Heisman winner instead of letting it grow organically. And it has come to the detriment of their season. There is no more room for error........

Rumors UNC talking exit strategy from Bill Belichek. If this is true, this is going to drive me bananas. They stayed w/the former guy 2 yrs too long & now they are going to cut bait in not even 2 months???!??!!???? This is downright embarrassing.

If Mizzou beats Alabama, and Hardy has a big day, then you're looking at the front runner.

Proud of the WSU Cougars for putting up a fight against Ole Miss(24-21). We may not make it to the playoffs this year but hopefully we have a chance next year maybe?

I was surprised @ the score. But then, when Lane is coaching, it shouldn't be a big surprise.

So, is James Franklin fired now?

Mateer and Hardy dip in the Heisman race, so who's next? I give Fernando Mendoza points for overcoming the game-tying pick-6, but you shouldn't throw those to begin with. Alabama wants to start a Ty Simpson movement but…ehh.

Ashton Jeanty couldn't win last year because of the exceptional unicorn Travis Hunter. And now this season, we have this trash.

Don't disagree. Not a great heisman class.
