Yikes! That hurts just watching it. I didn't think we'd ever top the violence of the Stephen Piscotty collision...

...and almost certainly career-ending...

Right up there with the Mets' "Meeting of the Minds" in 2005. Ouch!

Fun Fact for my American friends: three MLB players have exactly 1,776 career hits -

Boog Powell
Travis Fryman
Salvador Perez

I think Perez has ambitions beyond this point, though.

That's great! Boog (seen here during the MLB Centennial season in 1969) is as American as Apple Pie.

And he's had (more than) a few, too.

Fun fact: Boog was the first player ever to win both the Little League World Series and the Big Boy World Series

Our local Cardinals' beat writer stated last week that this stretch for the Cardinals was going to kill their chances this year.

So...the Cards have won 5 of the last 6, vs. Atlanta and Chicago, and scored a CRAZY 41 runs doing it.

Marlins pull pitcher after 7 perfect innings.

I hate modern baseball.......................Is there any data showing pitchers are getting injured less since having their innings/pitches limited?

Isn't it more? Because they throw as hard as they can on every pitch, even in training?

Quote:
I have to think about Eury and our organization, our team and what's best moving forward to give us a chance to continue to win games
—Clayton McCullough whining about pulling Perez after a whopping 92 pitches.

The Marlins led 8-0 at the time…but Karma nearly got them. Lake Bachar pitched as well as Lake Baikal, giving up 4 hits and 2 walks without retiring a man, good for 5 runs before the Fish were out of the inning. Then Miami tacked on a run in the top of the 9th…and needed it, as West Sacramento scored three off of Fairbanks before falling just short, 9-8

Stupid is as stupid does. Earlier in the year I saw McCullough play the infield in, in the first inning. (It didn't work.)

But I'm sure he smiles and says "Yes, sir!" when ever he gets his instructions from the Analytics Dorks, and that's all the F.O. cares about.

Two of the worst records in baseball met @ PityField. Excuse me, CitiField. Royals got off the opening salvo in this ugly pageant. Then the Mets said "hold my beer" & lost by 4.

"Fundies!" - Keith Hernandez, exhaustedly.

I am sad Peralta left for that dumpster fire. He could be in the Cy Young race if he was still in MKE.

You know what is bad about this sarcastic joke from Skenes? I've heard Tim McCarver use this same "logic".

Happened again today. Jared Jones of Pittsburgh had one going after 6. Pulled after 77 pitches. Absolute joke.

If Sonny Gray (11-1, 2.54 ERA) can't make the All Star Game, then there's something deeply wrong with this sport and the selection process. But Michael Wacha? Really? REALLY?

Too many participation trophies, and too much favoritism.

I applaud Zack Wheeler for telling the league to shove off as late-late-late replacement for whoever.

Quote:
Wheeler Turns Down MLB

The league reached out to Zack Wheeler last night offering to add him to the NL All-Star team as a replacement. He declined. “I'm not gonna be disrespected,” he said.
— Lochlahn March (@lochlahn) July 11, 2026

[...] However, credit has to go to Wheeler for feeling disrespected by the league and not accepting the invitation at this point. The right-hander should have been on the team to begin with, and the MLB has really fumbled this situation.

Didn't they make a rule saying they eliminated from consideration pitchers who were scheduled for the mound a day or 2 before/after the All-star game?

Pitchers that start games on Sunday are replaced on the roster, but retain their All Star nomination (and can probably go there to gobble a few cheese steaks on Rob Numbfred's dime).

Oh. Well then I don't know why they didn't make the team. I know the rule that every team gets a rep is archaic. That was probably the reason.

Also, Sonny Gray pitched on Friday.

MAYBE I am extra salty because OOTP just this week also denied Raccoons SP Crispino "Crispy Bear" D'Urso his first All Star Game. Boy was merely leading his league in ERA and strikeouts.

Good question.......If a runner steals a base before the pitcher throws a pitch, & then the batter hits a fly out, does the runner have to go back to the previous base?
