It doesn't look like he's ever going to be the Babe Ruth in this save, as is usually the case with dev-only - it struggles with the whole two-way thing. All the same, he's gradually coming along and this effort gives him 20 HR for the first time in a season so far and past the 100 career mark.

These final few years of the PBL look like they are going to be utterly fascinating with players' ratings and resultant usage continuing to evolve and morph as they get older. We're already seeing it at work, and here one of the league's heretofore lesser pitching lights (career 64-97 record; 7.5 pWAR) gets his moment to shine.

The Gothams turnstile continues to spin as Davey Johnson doesn't even last a year at the helm. A replacement is yet to be named.

1972 Paragon World Series

Seattle Rainiers v Boston Beacons

Best of nine, Rainiers with home-field advantage.

Well, if Carolina is rightfully described as the PBL's "Superman", then Boston can just as rightfully lay claim to being the league's "Kryptonite" as they once again easily dispatch of the Trips. There's no club who comes close to the Blues when it comes to choking and they manage to outdo themselves again here with an insipid five-game loss, setting up a rematch of last year's series.

I'm tipping the Rainiers to exact some payback here with a win in eight to finally earn that maiden title.

Opening Day (Sunday, 1 April) 1973

Once more Boston, Carolina, KC and Seattle are the picks, with the South race looking tasty. 1999 LTMs here so the HR record might well be under threat again.
